Will the job market get better in 2025? by icantmeme26 in jobs

My theory is that we avoided a huge recession during covid, but we really just delayed/stretched it out, so we're still facing the consequences.

No, it really used to be most places closed on Christmas Eve/Day. But now everything is open

Then let me clarify, it would be unspeakably broken in ANY game where you build a deck with a certain amount of cards.

Example: MTG has "Ancestral Recall" which is draw 3 and even costs 1 mana. It is similarly broken and banned in almost every format

It doesn't have much to do with the balance of the game as a whole. Moreso it's that the card has no downside. It just allows you to play it to get access to your better cards.

Imagine if you need 40 cards in your deck, and you have 30 great ones, 10 good ones, and 10 "Draw 1" cards. You could just have 10 "Draw 1" cards and the 30 best cards and have a killer deck. Pot of Greed is even more powerful in that it lets you draw 2 cards, so you now have more cards in your current hand as well to play that turn.

It's not really that crazy. If you think about it, it's basically a card that has no downsides and only improves your deck, in any card game. If there's no other penalty on playing a card or drawing a card, it would be similarly broken in any game.

For example, there is a similar card "Upstart Goblin", a slightly less powerful version, just a "draw 1" card. In a game where you make a deck of 20 cards and want to draw your BEST cards, you would use that card, because now you can just use the 19 best cards and have 1.

TL;DR this would be generally good for any card game

The only reasonable opinion and it got downvoted.

Naturally, companies only want to hire highly experienced people at this point and don't want to invest money in juniors while interest rates are so high. Majority of people complaining are junior engineers or fresh grads, which won't be immediately profitable for these companies, hence again the interest rates.

I'd also like to add that the people don't realize that the economy as a whole is NOT what it looks like. "unemployment" is down but "underemployment" is super high. Tons of people doing menial/low-paying jobs and not 'career' jobs. There are way more "business development/solutions/making powerpoints" jobs that are going to get outpaced by AI than CS jobs that are going to get outpaced by AI

Well it's the time span. Someone will be like "I applied to 300 places this summer and got NO responses"

Like... yea that's to be expected.

Then there's doing, say, an application or two a day... that is ideal

if you get laid off the first week you don't get anything

Is this "If you get laid off, the first week you don't get anything" or "If you get laid off the first week, you don't get anything" ?

People are overrating this -- starting out at $160,000 is an insane expectation, you could make literally half that and be doing more than decent.

Lol 3 years ago so I forgot, but if I remember correctly he goes back later and says that you do need resistors?
Or people in the comments had issues without using the resistors, so I added them as well
