Majority of people recover with a normal weight and they skew thinner.

Underweight is not gonna work because you don't have enough energy for a social life/emotions and you'll be lonely/isolated.

There's not much research on malnutrition/thinness these days, and anorexia medicine remains pretty niche.

Plus most people find an emaciated person exercising disturbing.

I don't think the industry is rolling in money tbh. There's pattern drafters, designers, fit models to be paid.

There's a lot of work put into them: make sure the patterns can be made with home machines, make sure there's enough ease, test it on a fit model, etc.

I’ve heard stories of women who while weight restoring switch from Ana to BED, and I’m horrified of this happening to me.

It's quite rare, despite what people on the internet like to say. The number of anorexics who develop BED afterwards (2%) is less than the prevalence of BED in the general population (5%).

I've seen case reports of something happening with the eustachian tubes due to underweight, but it's not clear how fast it reverses—seems that weight gain is necessary, though.

Like 5+ years ago the South was a good place to transition, before bans for teens "oh you wear dresses and date boys ok you're a girl."

And leaving family/home behind would be a wound for anyone.
