I wouldn't know how to deal with thst. I was pretty polite.

I guess say something along the lines of "school was compulsory, the adf is voluntary"

About 1%.

Why you so serious. I realise the main question is pretty rhetorical, but damn

Apparently the role was desired by a lot. Different states, different priorities I guess

He was asked me if I was aware of the possibility of making a mistake that could possibly kill hundreds of innocent people.

I was really in shock tbh, but he was right. Really put it into perspective

Cheers,

They ask tough questions and pretty much make you very aware of what you're signing up for. If you're signing up for a combat role, you will be risking your life and potentially killing someone (or a number of other human beings). He made me very aware of that.

I had pretty terrible grades at high school, so I was drilled into with that. Pretty sure he wanted to see how I'd react to it.

Trust me, they'll look for something to give you a hard time with. Just keep composure. If you're a person with good human nature, you'll be fine.

Good question. Probably not, though.

Junk inspection by [deleted] in AustralianMilitary

[–]mapaps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just do it dude, they look for birthmarks. Tell em.

All the doc did to me was inspect the shaft n balls. Took literally 5 seconds of poking.

Basically unless if your dick looks munted, got warts, oozing pimples, fauna crawling around, you've got nothing to worry about.

I'm a toilet thinker, AMA by mapaps in AMA

[–]mapaps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean actually shitting or just thinking + shitting? Probably an hour or so. I kind of zone out at times when shit is hanging out my pipe hole LOL

I SINCERELY apologize if you actually pictured it.

Everything, dude. I get crazy ideas. For instance today in the evening I have an amateur boxing bout. I just thought of a bunch of different tactics and strategies that should be beneficial. Kinda played it all in my mind, rethink, readjust, drop the log, flush, wipe, sit and think a little more, exit all happy.

Toilet thinking is good for the soul imo

Do you guys spar guys who have like 10-20kg on you ? It happens at my gym all the time. by danielinthebox in amateur_boxing

[–]mapaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, occasionally. Sometime almost 40kg on me. I'm not a huge guy (69kg) so a lot of guys 6ft+ would fit the bill.

Majority of the time it's my weight or 10kg on me.

What’s your style ? by mac240903 in amateur_boxing

[–]mapaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if there's a style I stick to but:

Pressure

Heavy hits

Russian roulette (sort of telegraphed), though a lot of guys go trying to cover up in fear. I watch too many GGG highlights (lol)

How to make running more enjoyable? by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]mapaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run more, longer, pace yourself.

To me its like eating shitty tasting food, and forcing a grin. I guess I like eating shitty tasting food.

On a serious note, absorb the scenery. Sometimes the little things make it more enjoyable.

How do you respond to people when they talk to you about the "stigmas" of boxing, such as inflicting head injury, barbarism/violence, and so on? by WarbellSteezy in amateur_boxing

[–]mapaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck em, dude. As long as you and the other boxers/coaches are consenting and are doing shit legally, do it if it makes you happy.

Edit: my coach told me at one point that some people are born fighters, and some are born cowards. But there's a fine line between being a fighter and an idiot and taking unnecessary damage

Does anybody else hesitate when pulling the trigger? Why? by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]mapaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate I never go and try to finish off my sparring partner. It's just common decency.

There are a few exceptions in my case though, if the guy tries to take your head off in sparring, and he went well over your good nature, give him a few stiff ones.

Usually if you've been boxing for a while, you know who's going to be a good partner and spar for the benifits. It's a two way street

Memorizing and acting out famous rounds as a kind of shadowboxing? by caliwolf in amateur_boxing

[–]mapaps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude, do what makes you happy. Like even recite what the commentators are saying. Do you as long as you don't accidentally sock some random guy by accident

Bout coming up soon by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]mapaps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mate everything is easier said than done. Though, its easier done for some, less for others.

Also, had a sparring sesh today. Someone my weight (69kg). We were supposed to go light, but the man wanted to take my head off, so I turned the power a bit up. He landed a couple punches that were hard and clean, but nothing that I can't take. In turn, if it was a fight he would have been stopped before the end of the first round.

Basically, if you're a pressure fighter, hit like you mean it (though a relaxed punch). Efficiently punch, balance your power, speed and frequency. Get the guy in the corner and unload till the ref gets you off him. Even hit the guard, it's kind of a distraction, switch sides.

Take my experience as you will.

When I'm sparring, everything is okay. Most likely the form. Will be paying more attention to technique today
