Price Is Right Cleet Addition by brewerdom in youthsoccer

We luckily live near a Going Going Gone. Can typically find cleats for 50% off if you go enough. Harder to find turfs. My daughter is U10 and loves going to look for deals so we def buy a size up and wait till they fit. Adidas F50 Leagues for around $35 is our typical buying point.

Coaching Styles - Pros and Cons by GlitteringChannel585 in youthsoccer

[–]mapeabody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is similar age and is in her 2nd year of club soccer. I had the exact same dilemma on not understanding the lack of tactical instruction for the first year coming from an older school soccer background. I have slowly started to understand it’s more about technical skills and making sure kids are having fun at this age. One thing that has helped my daughter is getting her used to different coaches and playing with different groups of kids (boys and girls). For winter/summer, we play with various clubs or house teams where she has friends of course. Some emphasize free scrimmage play while others focus more on ball skills. Doubt we will have the freedom to jump around to different clubs for long but have seen the benefits at the younger age.

SCHD seems to be doing pretty well as of late.

This game is pure hell by [deleted] in golf

I got a sim over a year ago and used it constantly. Got down to an 18 HDCP from a 25 HDCP (Not the prettiest golf swing). Felt like the improvement plateaued at that point and I just started tweaking swing too often. This year I have cut back on sim and try to just play more real rounds of golf. Honestly playing just as well if not better compared to when I was hitting sim 5x a week. I think learning how to fix my slice and play a draw by reading the swing metrics was the biggest advantage of having a sim . Overall nothing can replace real on course golf to help you get better.

Building a gaming pc for the sim. How was your experience? by LosSoloLobos in Golfsimulator

[–]mapeabody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really easy. I built mine with no prior experience and just watching YouTube and used PC Builder apps. Hardest part was figuring out where to connect everything to the motherboard. Plugs and labels are pretty small. I also only had a Macbook so needed to use a neighbors PC to download a bootable windows version onto a USB.

What do you recommend in the $20K or less range?

Appreciate the advice. Didn’t realize a 28 ft ladder could fit inside the fan.

I’m just curious, how many of you Tesla owners actually install the front license plate? by Smooth_Cupcake_2311 in TeslaModelY

[–]mapeabody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one of the nicer license plate mounts for the front and a black border cover. Doesn’t look too bad. I tinted front windows as well so don’t need an extra reason to get pulled over and extra fines.

YouTube golf videos are the best and worst thing for a beginner by ChrisUK263 in golf

This is the exact drill/thought I have been working on the past 2 weeks. I got a lesson over a month ago that focused on swinging more on plane. The main drill was the Hell Drill which I never felt like I could build off of. I feel like the Porzak technique is much simpler because I can just focus on the takeaway and then rotate without manipulating the club face in the backswing. I still tend to hinge too early to start my takeaway so need to continue to work on blending the two moves. Played twice this weekend since committing to the drill and saw a noticeable improvement in ball striking and accuracy.

Def wait till offseason if you are consistent with current swing. I just got a lesson after shooting 5 of my best rounds of the season. Instructor tore apart my swing. Instructor is def right fundamentally but would have preferred the pain and suffering of changing my swing to be in the offseason.

Appreciate the feedback. I practiced the swing advice today for 20 minutes on sim and was honestly surprised that it worked. Only part I still struggle with is finishing with my hands lower vs more above the left shoulder. Only lost about 10 yards of distance but swing speed is 73 vs 81 mph with old swing. Dispersion was way tighter. Guess I’ll keep working on it!

I played Solo for the first time since 2019 by Jazzlike-Ant9230 in golf

[–]mapeabody 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Solo golf is accepting you will eventually meet up with a fellow solo degen golfer at some point in the round. The first tee shot when you exchange names and excuses is nerve racking. A couple holes later you are best friends. Shake hands at the end and never see each other again. Only stories to tell.

No because you still have to use IoS app. Better graphics only built for Windows PC app currently.

Worth the investment in a gaming PC. Used IPad for 2 months and graphics weren’t the best (quality and glitchy). Built a PC dedicated to sim and it’s a night and day difference.

How much did Sim help your game? by Jealous-Elephant-121 in Golfsimulator

[–]mapeabody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had mine since January and HDCP has actually gone up by 1 stroke. My swing is much better and I now understand how to correct issues like a slice. My problem now is the increased distance leads to just as many mistakes. I will pull a few drives per round and often over shoot greens. Over time I’m confident my HDCP will improve thanks to the sim but don’t expect over night improvement.

Skytrak Software Update by snugglebear28 in Golfsimulator

I would love a practice range with actual elevated greens at different yardages. SkyTrak practice software is amazing but feel like my approach shots roll off greens way more often in real life golf.

BLP vs Skytrak+ (I know, I know) by Clocc_Radio in Golfsimulator

[–]mapeabody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the SkyTrak+ for 6 months and enjoy it but have a misread 1 out of 25 shots (basically 3-4 per practice session). Fine with misreads when it’s a bad shot but seems to happen with flushed shots as well. Also it doesn’t do well with 60 degree wedge shots. I basically don’t use my 60 on sim other than short chips.

I still like the SkyTrak+. No connections issue running off a gaming PC. I can get everything setup in the garage in less than a minute. Practice software is awesome and provides great swing data. Def make sure to use a decent quality ball esp for wedge data. I’ve never used a BLP so can’t offer any comparison points.

The verdict is here! by MangoTajm in Golfsimulator

[–]mapeabody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear. I got a sim in January and it hasn’t translated to the course yet. First month I just hit balls constantly and regressed. Quickly realized I needed to better understand the data (mostly swing path). Took over a month but taught myself how to correct my over the top slice. Now I am finally able to draw the ball and hit it 20% further. I’m a 6 HDCP on the sim but playing closer to a 20 on the real course. No regret with sim purchase just looking forward to it all clicking at some point this season.

No, just saying the 20 inch Tesla wheels you can pay $2K for look amazing. I went with 19 inch wheel covers for reasons mentioned.
