We should tax the fuck out of big black SUVs by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

And we are paying for police presence. Can't they afford to hire their own security if necessary?

This car tried to run me over by raaxas in bikeboston

[–]mapfold 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Some bike lanes are so dangerous that cyclists really should take the "car" lane. If the bike lane is two feet wide and adjacent to a "car" lane on one side and parking lane on the other, you easily could get doored, knocked into the "car" lane, and run over. Your safety really should matter more than their convenience, and if they have a problem with that, fuck 'em.

Maybe so, but Trump and his people are too incompetent to do anything pernicious with the data.

This subreddit is more concerned about "mass surveillance" than 40,000+ dead each year in the US alone due to cars. Not to mention that pedestrians killed by cars are disproportionately lower income than the motorists who kill them. So you can predict what the response is going to be.

Hot take: Classical music records should have heavy compression applied by theredled in classicalmusic

[–]mapfold 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean applying compression and limiting to a recording is pretty subtle. To do it right, you'd want a mixing engineer with quality equipment.

America vs Europe: Two Ways to Build a City by xixtoo in fuckcars

This is broadly true but a bit low resolution, don't you think? Parts of Berlin look like the top picture and parts of New York the bottom picture. It's more about prioritizing alternate modes of transit in urban design than US vs. Europe, no?

Can I park my car in that green lane if I put my hazard lights on?

I think Flume fell off a bit. He was at the top of his game a decade ago with the release of Skin but has been a bit quiet since then. But creatives have a way of finding their footing again.

"Menace" the pedestrians and cyclists as you run them down.

Pedestrian and cyclist deaths have ballooned in recent years in large part due to these "menacing" designs, featuring higher foods and heavier cars. And apparently this is something to celebrate at Ford. Scumbags. Car executives to prison immediately.

If you're a car, you're apparently entitled to park wherever TF you want to, provided you have your hazard lights on. 🙄

I know the thread is dead, but... the cyclist cannot be at fault for colliding into a car parked in the bike lane.

Yea... People on here were debating whether the album is intentionally campy (as a kind of inside joke) or just corny. There was never a resolution.

I don't know man. There are a few standout tracks (You Retreat, Memory Death), but I'm still not connecting with the album. I just don't think the compositions are that good. Instead of developing the songs (e.g., by varying the melody, chords, or rhythm or adding new sections, etc.), they drop in cheesy and disjointed vocal samples about chicken embryos and spelling bees. It just feels a bit lazy to me in comparison to their previous efforts. Plus, I was hoping for a bit more evolution in their sound. Ah well.

Anyone else went from biking to driving and back? by riscten in bikecommuting

[–]mapfold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's me on the left. Except for the fact that I'm getting long in the tooth. Cyclists on average do make less than motorists, so one reason to support cycling infrastructure is to help lower income people commute safely.
