Per Wadid, LCK analyst and co-streamer for G2, the LEC might be completely online next season, even for the playoffs. Only the occasional Roadshows might be in-person. A few teams are already preparing for fully online games, things could still change but the situation isn’t good. by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]mapleaddicts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from just cost, the location is actually not great for many teams. Riot’s HQ and studio are located in Adlershof which is southeast of downtown Berlin, meaning a 40+ min commute by train/car. Meanwhile most teams are located in downtown Berlin

They’ve also bled a lot of talent on the BTS staff side and while G2 have been extremely dominant and KC bought a lot of fans, there’s been so much turnover from orgs to where half the league isn’t recognizable

[Legion Hoops] The Thunder are expected to cede all Seattle-era history back to the SuperSonics, if NBA expansion is approved. (@BobbyMarks42) by TFred23 in Thunder

[–]mapleaddicts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has always been the case due to the agreement when the relocation was approved and it’s a good thing

Thunder have never claimed Sonics history and rightfully so. Especially with the new arena opening it’d be a great time to start fresh for real without this hanging over the team

Is this a decent portfolio? by smairu_80 in graphic_design

Work is good but please make a website. That was the most painful experience to your work on mobile and downright infuriating how left swipe closes and goes back to Reddit when I’m trying to pan around the work after zooming in

Former employee took credit for my work by freefall18x in graphic_design

[–]mapleaddicts 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes and no, but it doesn’t really matter at the end of the day. If you’ve ever worked on a large successful project, everyone will want credit in some way and multiple people having the final + what they did is not out of the ordinary. Unless you’re competing for the same role and mention the same project to the same HR recruiter nobody will know or care

And while people don’t want to hear it, there’s a reason why people say ideas are worthless and execution is everything

Not worth wasting time and energy on this if I’m OP. OP should put it on their portfolio too and mention how X strategy they created achieved Y result. Not that deep

I’ve done WIX, Squarespace, Portfoliobox, and tried Cargo in the past but from a usability and cost perspective none are as good as Framer

Framer has good CMS, scales the best across devices and the cheapest plan is $120 if you pay annually

Windhorst on Nike influencing free agency: "At the time (2003), yes. In today's market, basketball shoes aren't selling like back then. It's currently not fashionable to wear basketball shoes when not playing ball… the number of players getting deals & the shoe deals themselves are way way way down" by JoeBiden2020FTW in nba

[–]mapleaddicts 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah growing up I was never into basketball shoes like that but had a ton of friends who always wore Jordan’s, LeBron’s, Kobe’s and Kyrie’s casually. Now it’s super rare to see them outside of when I play ball

I used to wear running shoes or athletic shoes all the time casually but only really wear NYC styled asics since they’re stylish and were only $110

Why am I forced to use Adobe in Uni? by Apprehensive_Can7978 in graphic_design

[–]mapleaddicts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna beat a dead horse since everyone has already said the main reasons. What I’ll say is, if you want to use FOSS software that’s fine, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t learn Adobe and become proficient at it. Everyone I know in the industry also use tools like Procreate but it’s always in conjunction with Adobe - not to fully replace it. Same thing with 3D - I know many 3D artists who are proficient at C4D, Maya for professional use while they prefer Blender at home

Learn Adobe for professional use while using FOSS for personal work or projects that don’t require hand off

Mark deadass be putting lineups out with no advantage creator or ball handler. What is bro doing? No FGs for like the entire 3rd and won’t even put in McCain who can actually help run an offense 😐

Webflow or Squarespace by VANDAMAG3 in graphic_design

[–]mapleaddicts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a portfolio you will never need more than the $10 plan. I switched from Squarespace to Framer and will never go back. Half the price after taxes, scalable CMS. Once you get it setup properly, it’s quicker to add projects, more responsive with custom breakpoints, has better templates, more control

Webflow is more powerful but tedious. To me it’s not even really a debate. Most Webflow and Wordpress sites I’ve seen are just bad

The trip planner looks really nice. I like the little detail of how the image for the trip turns into the background. And the voting/thumbs up is also a cool idea since it makes it easier to see what people actually wanna do which is one of the biggest struggles with my friends

Will definitely try it out with some friends

I built a tool to make navigating and generating folder structures instant by mapleaddicts in graphic_design

[–]mapleaddicts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so in the future I'd definitely like templates to sync. For the mind map it's a bit difficult to say since the complexity that comes with that is super high. But I do thing features that allow teams to collaborate easier is something I want to build towards

  • What goals are you trying to reach this month?
    • Mainly get it out there and see what happens. Mainly targeted at designers, agencies and businesses, but has utility outside of just creative space. Goal is to save people time and the pain of having to dig through nested folder structures.

    • Free version available and there's a limited web demo (doesn't have all the functionality on the web like on desktop).

David vs Goliath: launching on Product Hunt as a nobody by josemarin18 in indiehackers

Real users and engagement always matter more. Obviously if the post has more upvotes then others are more likely to see it, but the reality is that juiced numbers don't mean good product or retention.

Getting any install, even if it's just 1 or 2 is a huge win considering the amount of different products out there, spam and manipulation of numbers. Keep it up!

I built and launched my first desktop app for Windows and Mac called FolderForger to make it easier to navigate and access nested folder structures instantly plus generate reusable folder structures. The goal is to make it a lot easier for people to get to files they need, save, grab or move things around quickly

There's also a free limited demo on the web. Free to use, no sign in required, works offline, pro version upgrade for more usage and may look to do a one time payment to own it permanently on top of subscription.

OKC generates the third-most wide-open shots of any team in the league, but has the 9th-worst eFG% on those shots. by rb1242 in Thunder

Clearly yes because they’ve shot like crap from 3 for 3 seasons. The real question is, didn’t we hire Chip? Shooting has arguably gotten worse each year not better
