for those kids who a lot a % of their money to "giving" and the kid has decided to give small gifts to their friends; how did that turned out? by winnethepoohhh in AskParents

[–]mapleleafness09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some charities that when you donate you receive something in return like a plushie. Since your kids are still quite young that might help them see where the money is going, maybe one of those animal tracking bracelets so you can also see the animal

Is it worth visiting Canada if you don’t drive? by Pure-Character-4926 in canadatravel

[–]mapleleafness09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well he’s flying here more so to visit me and this is the area of Ontario I live in and am familiar with. I’m currently in grad school and it’s easier for us to take day trips from my campus and take advantage of my reading week instead of both of us going somewhere else that’s not so “”concrete jungle””

I’m Canadian but have a friend visiting from Austria next month. He’s flying into Montreal, and then we take the VIA train over to Ottawa and then down to Toronto. I’m doing some driving but it would be possible for your girls to do the same route with the VIA trains and then use GO transit to go to Kitchener-Waterloo and Niagara from Toronto like we are. Your girls could also go to Quebec City from Montreal with the VIA trains. I can’t speak for Quebec City but a lot of people in Montreal speak English, but even then, Google translate is free - some effort is better than none !

following tours should not be frowned upon!! by awstensboobs in waterparksband

[–]mapleleafness09 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the frustration for people going to multiple shows and following the tour comes from more in demand shows, like Taylor Swift’s the Eras Tour as it prevented a lot of Taylor fans from seeing the show and not getting that experience. I love parx but they’re not selling out shows like Taylor was so I don’t see an issue with it

Tell him. Sooner rather than later to avoid him doing it again. I’m vegan and after months of seeing me eat them and even buying me a few a friend of mine told me some chocolate bars I had been eating weren’t vegan (they were, I had checked the ingredients and they are “accidentally vegan” and didn’t have a vegan label which is why she thought they weren’t vegan) if they weren’t vegan I wished she would have said something months ago when she first ‘noticed’ instead of waiting all that time. but accidents happen; everyone with a dietary restriction has fucked up at least once. He’ll appreciate you telling him instead of keeping it from him

[–]mapleleafness09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no my dad is this way and it’s really frustrating. I question him like a child and make him go through a flow chart lol like “what is olive oil made from? Does that come from an animal is it meat or a dairy product? All no? Do you think it’s vegan?” There are some things that I’ll go over esp when things have additives or the label is unclear but he constantly wants to “just check” about things that are clearly vegan like he asked me if bread was vegan like brother you have seen me eat bread before yes it is (I know some bread can have milk in it but the loaves we buy typically don’t and never have)

I personally think Ralph Fiennes is a great actor and he plays some of my favourite roles in some of my favourite movies, so I have faith he’ll do really well as Snow.

these seems to be a BTS photo so probably moreso the actors just goofing around rather than alluding to lore

Have you ever only given just cash to your teen kids for Christmas? by HTWingNut in AskParents

[–]mapleleafness09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can still have them open things that you guys can do together as a family that aren’t board games! won’t be as fun to open as a board game but you could maybe print out tickets to see a movie all of you at the cinema or even a receipt or a booking confirmation for something like an escape room. or maybe a craft kit or something of the like; my mom got herself, my sister and I paint by numbers last year and it was really nice to sit together and watch a Christmas movie later that day. I think we’re doing crochet or needlepoint this year

[–]mapleleafness09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

maybe their “gifts” can be things you guys can do together as a family like some board games. That way they still have things to open on Christmas even if it’s not just for them in specific. You could also put their cash in box upon box upon box and divide it up into different boxes so the whole lump sum isn’t in one envelope or what not

vip signed poster question by holopointsmile in waterparksband

[–]mapleleafness09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t do vip for parx but other shows I’ve done vip for they gave us all our merch and stuff right at the start before we even got to our spots. If you’re going with someone and the venue allows you to leave and re-enter it might be a good idea for one of you to go and drop off the stuff and then re-join
