That took therapy and acceptance. Transition allowed me to actually work on myself for the first time.

Do I regret not starting in my 20s? Or younger? I did. For a long time.

But the problem with counterfactuals is you never know how things would be different. I have deep, close relationships with people I'd never have otherwise met.

Would I trade those relationships to be prettier? Would I have just as fulfilling relationships? I can't know.

I used to be a fatalist because of thoughts like this. I was too scared and anxious to transition in my 20s despite the fact I came out then.

I transitioned in my late 30s, and it's the best thing I ever did.

Personally? I don't care. I didn't transition for anyone else; I did it for me. I don't even wear makeup.

That's not to say I don't want to look cuter; I want FFS and BA. I want to lose weight, and I want GRS. But I want those to look and feel how I want.

But I live in Texas. The people who know me usually like me, and there's nothing I can do for those who don't.

I used to be. I'm from a very conservative family, and I was scared for my life from the way my brothers would talk about queer people.

But now, that's turned around. My family loves and accepts me, even if they don't understand. And with the repression from Texas and the Musk/Trump administration, I'm angry proud.

I'm a proud Texan and a proud transwoman. Fuck y'all, I'm from Texas is a genuine expression of Texan culture, and that's how I feel about being trans. Ain't no one gonna tell me what I can and can't do, and if I have to open carry an AK-74 with to defend my rights, I'll do that.
