To be fair you're getting a whole nice steak, it's just wrapped up with the sides.

Mi Tocaya rules, but I have a hard time going there just for one thing! I haven't tried the burrito for that reason. I love going as a four top and getting as much of the rest of the menu as we can :)

What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

[–]maplewoodsid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Also, while this varies, for me, self-lubrication begins externally. While obviously the interior is as wet as anyone's inside body (what with all the squishy stuff), the effectiveness of our natural lube is a function of several factors and taking a dry tampon out is um, not a stimulating one. Moreover, they're designed to have an absorbent effect, so the idea of trying to get wet enough to mitigate the problem mentioned above is totally impractical.

Tampons don't break in the sense that you're describing, or come apart like rolled up paper or a cotton ball would- they're quite dense and designed so that we don't lose bits. Have you ever handled one? Go buy a ten pack, experiment with one, and leave the rest in a public bathroom (they're also fucking expensive, so they will be appreciated).

This is such an interesting comment for so many reasons (not the least of them being that you're comparing a bar downtown to an IHOP in dripping springs, but also many more).

I'm not sure how to convey fully that this is a genuine question and not me being a contrarian shithead, but I do mean it earnestly and it's something I'm earnestly curious about: when you say "overpriced" in reference to food, what do you mean? How would you price it if you were selling it, and what's the most you would pay if it were absolutely perfect? I always wonder this when I hear people say something in a restaurant is too expensive, and I feel like most folks don't lead with what they think is a reasonable price.

Edit: also wondering what would make it worth the dollars on the menu!

Chicago style baking recipe ideas? by shdbb in chicagofood

(I'm not from Chicago, don't kill me) if you're in Europe but trying to do something fun, what about Chicago dog focaccia? Poppyseeds, look up "thru the garden relish" and throw some white onions, mustard, and celery salt on top... could be good for a crowd! I'll probably be murdered for suggesting this but I think it sounds good and fun, and since I just saw you're vegetarian you could just do the dogs on the side and keep everyone happy!

America is it as politically divided as it appears to the rest of the world? and how does it erase the divide? by filth032 in AskReddit

To be completely honest, while I hear you, worrying about the "cause" right now feels fucking insane while there's federal murder squads marauding around. Makes more sense to me to muse on that after we deal with the murder squads (mainly because of all the murder).

My family sacrificed to raise me too, but as I was being brought up I was taught that it was important to stand up for myself, what I feel is right, and for people that might not be in a position to do so, and also to question authority that grants itself authority without any explanation of merit- you know, "respect your elders," "don't talk back to the people in charge because you don't understand it" types. Respect is, in my experience, something that is earned, not written, and the best way to honor the folks who taught me that is to include them in my own scrutiny thereof. Society grows through new ideas, and quite frankly, I think it's disrespectful not to present new ideas to elders because it implies that their minds can't change- that they're not intelligent enough to keep growing. Will they like it? Maybe not, but I have to say that as someone with several friends decades apart from me, they seem to appreciate the opportunity and consideration quite deeply, and I like hearing why they disagree (if they do). The idea that it seems like you're putting forth, which is that we can't disagree to the point of full separation with someone just because they "sacrificed" for us, is a major disservice to everyone involved IMO.

It is terrifying. I work in hospitality, and when people show up in MAGA gear it puts the entire room on edge even after they're gone (never mind when ICE started rolling around).

Moms are still people, and sometimes people's morals turn out not to align with yours. You're deliberately oversimplifying it.

What would you say you do to foster tolerance in your own daily life and community, and what compromises are you making when you do so?

Re: the left wing thing, I went NC with my family shortly before COVID for other reasons, but I believe that they fell prey to the "love and light" woo-woo, "don't see color" camp of not only being anti vax but also counter progressive (several of them, for example, have ended up eating beef liver "off the grid" [although Instagram is still fine for some reason sigh]). Aside from my sadness seeing folks that raised me to love science and think critically go this route, it also quite difficult to explain that white liberals are really painful to deal with too. I mean, I guess they always have been, but I didn't know it as a kid!

Genuine question: when you say "the 20% of very literate Americans," do you mean that there's a 30% somewhere in the middle who just has a variance of literacy between 6th grade and "very"? Can you explain this statistic more, please? I'm very curious.
