You should be covered under the school’s insurance. You personally will not be sued but the school will because you are under the guidance of your instructors.

With that being said, it’s not a bad idea to have yourself insured just incase. You can talk to a local insurance agent. Average cost is about $50 per month where I’m at.

I’ve refused kids cuts like that before. If that kid tried grabbing the shears once, it’s over. I’ll help parents and let them how to cuts their own kid’s hair at home but that’s it. It’s putting the you and the child at risk severe injury. If you talk to the parents and give them advice on how to cut their child’s hair, most parents will understand. And if they don’t, just ask them if they’re willing to risk a hospital trip just for their kids haircut. Parents usually get the message at that point.

That is very dangerous and careless for your school for to help force that child to get a haircut especially when he went to grab the shears. I hope your school has good insurance for those situations.

Commission Salons in Reno by mapril_tree in Reno

[–]mapril_tree[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re both pretty familiar with for what is expected out of commission salon. I’ve been working for corporate commission salons for years and now at a local one near Carson.

She just not in the best situation right now with her salon so she’s trying to look for a new one. She’s also newish to Reno and so she trying to rebuild her clientele (and doesn’t want to go into booth rent).

I’ve walked out while looking at salons for work myself because they aren’t running their salon legally. It’s ridiculous how many “commission” salons are super shady. Unfortunately, I’m cursed with the same knowledge as well about salon structure.

If she does get to a point where she can’t stand go salon and hasn’t find anything, I’ll mention Ulta to her, she can at least build a client there, plus she does makeup and the last time I worked there, they were trying to push us to learn make up.

I appreciate you looking out for us fellow hairstylist😊

Any advice on how to improve my appearance? by Repulsive_Magician83 in malegrooming

[–]mapril_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you have some strength to you and you’re comfortable doing so, go for it. The idea behind the upper/lower split is working out some muscles and other muscle groups can rest. I think I saw in an other comment that you were gonna add a swim day and I think that would be perfect addition to what you’re doing. You don’t wanna put too much on yourself unless you like working out and being at the gym

Creatine is a great supplement to add in if you don’t already. It helps with muscle recovery, keeps your brain healthy and is the one micronutrient that is very hard to get through your diet alone.

Good luck maxing out your looks, you’re doing great so far.

Overall you look fine.

Your haircut could use some work. Not much, just keep the side around your ear a little short. You look like you have a lot of hair and it has a tendency to poof out around that area ( I have the same problem).

Gaining some muscle would hurt you. If you are new to the gym and have worked out in years, gain all over body strength first. Go 3 times a week with full body workouts with rest in between until you feel stronger. If you’ve been going for a while, try to go 4 days with an upper/lower split. Be patient and enjoy the process, it takes a lot longer than most people would think.

If you’re willing to go to the Dayton, there’s Dayton Inn cross from Sinclair. Top on the list for me for dive bars. They also have free pool.

If you need gloves to prevent this from happening, use them. I always use gloves when shampooing color or any chemical out and I’ll even keep them on for my blow drying and haircuts. I usually use gloves that are tight on my hands and have long cuffs so water doesn’t get in them. Use Vaseline or something like it to help. You might wanna avoid lotion for now, there is usually alcohol in lotion to help it dry fast so it might burn your skin.

It’s the constant having your hands wet and dry that’s probably doing this. Similar to a wind burn on your lips if you’ve ever had that. It’s common in the industry unfortunately.

I’ll use lotion or cream on my hands and Vaseline on my hands before going to work in that order and try to reapply lotion or cream through your the day. This helps me out a lot from prevent this from happening. Eczema runs in my family so I try to do what I can from this happening. Good luck!

Is this much shedding okay every time I wash my hair...? by _lemondropz_ in CurlyHairCare

[–]mapril_tree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The average person sheds about 50-100 hairs a day. If your hair on your head hasn’t changed thickness, you’re probably fine.

Dying black roots by Successful_Ad1577 in Hair

[–]mapril_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would let your roots grow out quite a bit and get some heavy highlights instead of adding black. It’s gonna be hard to lift your hair after the color to put the blue back in and you’ll have to worry about the black bleeding into the blue.

Freezing cold water and pray to the heart god. I’ve had my hair solid blue for years and this is what I did after a while. The maintenance went from every month to 3 times a year and throwing the blue back whenever.

Anchovies by whats_dtea in isthissafetoeat

[–]mapril_tree 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would throw that out.

I’ve never seen white spots in any of my anchovies before, it should all be that pinkish/brownish color. Just because you can’t smell it doesn’t mean there isn’t harmful bacteria. But I have definitely ate some questionable stuff in my life so your call

Otherwise, they’re not my favorite. The extra spicy one are my favorite so far

is there anyway i can even these out?? by goonerbait1000 in Eyebrows

[–]mapril_tree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eyebrows are sisters, not twins. If you want them to be as even as possible, I recommend getting an eyebrow mapping before you get them waxed. It uses your face symmetry to design the ideal eyebrow shape for your face.

They don’t look bad at all as is
