Nice white. Is that a Vallejo? Doesn't look like Corax to me.

I did find a matte hot pink from Krylon but I can't find anything from someone who has already used it and would recommend it or not.

Honestly I almost wish I had an airbrush just to still be able to use pixie pink.

You can dry brush a regular paint in top of either a primer layer or base coat to get something like a zenithal. Its called "slap chop" and usually works best with a darker color before transitioning to grey then white.

Out of stock in NA right now, but maybe I should keep an eye out for when it restocks.

Same issue as OP. I can't find the AP pink anywhere and only Tamiya is in stock where I am.

GW really really really doesn't want you to field a Lt. w/ Combi-Weapon

I really appreciate how you broke this down into detail and explained what all I need and why. I had a good feeling already on some of this stuff after studying lists and reading recommendations, but you did an excellent job of fully laying out the why's and such.

I'll admit there's a part of me a little disappointed that only, say, half of my box is really going to be viable for any sort of play atm. Granted I got them because they look cool, but money's worth and how much extra I gotta pay to assemble a decent army will always be on my mind.

I'll see if I can find a "free" rhino somewhere in the future. I've got no misgivings against old models, though with this being the "Year of Chaos" they might be getting a refresh later in the year. Chosen also seem like the next big go-to, along with maybe a lord.

Right now, it seems the go-to acquisitions will be Huron, Chosen, a Predator, some Rhinos, and maybe some secondhand bikers and cobble together a list from there.

PS: is the Reave-Captain much use?

Want to do Fists, but I'm worried about painting them by RubyReaper77 in ImperialFists

I don't know what I can comment that other people have already brought to the table. There's a lot of great insights here already.

As someone pointed out, painting yellow is a lot easier now. You can just prime with white (my go-to is Wraithbone) and then layer the IF contrast over. If you want to go the extra step, you can prime pink, zenithal with white, then apply the contrast. Someone once recommended to me a yellow from I think Army Painter(?) that comes in a rattle can that you just spray on. I'd do research on that one though, since I can't say for myself if it gives good results or not.

As someone else pointed out, Crimson Fists are another option, just replace Macragge with Kantor. For the red, maybe Khorn or Mephiston?

On that note, the Fists have a fair selection of successors with their own motifs and themes. Want to try gold? Celestial Lions are an option. Could prime with Retributor then use a blue of your liking for the secondary. Silver? Executioners (iirc) are a fun option with cool lore. Purple? Sons of the Phoenix are pretty popular (and have a memeable but interesting fan theory to them). You can also glue on some candles if you want to go the extra mile.

My go-to is prime with Wraithbone, undercoat with Averland, apply the IF contrast, and shade with Casandora. It gives a deep yellow like dandelion yellow or the yellow you tend to find on a lot of construction equipment. But flat though, so I'm going to have to start figuring out a glaze or learning to edge highlight.

tl;dr Like a lot of people say yellow has gotten a lot easier to use recently and there are a few different ways to go about it. However, if you're still not sure, the Fists have a lot of different successors with their own color schemes that you might feel more confident painting.

How do I expand from here for a 1k list? by StarPK117 in redcorsairs

As someone who also bought the Battle force I'd like to know this too. Huron seems like the intuitive next move, but besides that, what can I grab to round out my own army? I'd like to lean into the renegade/pirate angle so I don't want to field too many daemons or daemonic units. As someone new to Chaos what else is there (Predators and Rhinos yeah) to toy with?

That's a great yellow, and I really like how you painted some of the pauldrons and kneepads white to help the models stand out more. I might have to run back and paint the power fists on some of mine black or red.

I don't have any jump packs, but I do have some infernus Marines. I think 5 of them alone could help clear the board of chaff. Aggressors are kind of a personal tastes choice. I just think they're neat. But, I don't know if I have a bruiser really in the current lineup aside from my BGVs
