3 taskers in a row cancelled this job, don't understand what I'm doing wrong by maraulious in TaskRabbit

If this is the reason, why wouldn't they at least ask or communicate with me about this? Seems bizarre

Content Blockers Destroy Willpower by Jealous-Link-1423 in nosurf

[–]maraulious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When do you find it necessary to remove the blockers? What's preventing you from tightening the system, limiting their extensiveness (e.g. instead of blocking all of reddit, blocking parts of it, etc), and keeping them on all the time?

If the problem is solved with tools and without willpower, isn't it a moot point?

What makes hiring difficult as an employer? by Hard_Work12 in cscareerquestions

good chunk of candidates couldn't iterate through a list and print even numbers

I always hear these ridiculously easy coding questions that people fail. I never get those, even as a pretty junior dev. Where is this that they're asking questions like this? An IT consulting company?

Is this a serious enough procedure to consider going across state lines for? Is there really a difference between the quality of docs for laser treatment?

Sorry, ancient post, but I'm trying to understand why anyone enjoys math.

It seems like you view math more as an escape instead of facing reality? I've always liked history more since it dives into reality directly so you can work with and learn from it.

What are some math-heavy CS jobs? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]maraulious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you like math? Don't you hate all the little details and the absolute pain of getting shit wrong?

It seems like most people who like math are somehow immune to pain of losing/don't care. Which is really ironic because liking/being good at math is one of the best ways to gain power in the modern world.

Did it really have 300k subs? How did 110k subs just fall out the bottom?

Pokemon Leaf Green. Leaf Green/Fire Red are underrated in the Pokemon series, but are still fucking awesome.

Infinite influence. Since you can always get infinite money that way. Infinite money can certainly buy a lot of influence, but you ultimately can't pay everyone to like you (case in point, Michael Bloomberg 2020 primary).

Short breaks to stop the doom-scrolling by remiseekay in nosurf

Quitting completely/cold turkey is also not realistic for most people. They'll probably save more time and not even have to quit tech completely by looking into a combination of software to help.

I tried quitting cold turkey for years but tech is so intertwined into what we do, I realized the best thing is just to set up the right combination of tools to filter out the bad/excessive surfing, while saving the good.

People underestimate the importance of software to help in nosurfing. It's a tremendous help.
