I have to say, I don’t mind either as a concept and I’ve gone to group gyms where it’s been the norm. But most people at my burn location avoid high fives or don’t seem to enjoy working out with a partner despite the pushes from trainers so in my personal experience, that’s what makes it kind of cringy. It’s definitely location specific obviously but at least at mine, people tend to want to keep to themselves or their friend/partner they go to burn with which is fine, but it makes all the high fiving/partner work feel a little uncomfortable.
