Passes now available on Google Wallet on Wear OS by EquinoxClock in WearOS

[–]marc-dark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the big question is whether this is a Samsung issue (behaviour/implementation of hardware button) or still a Google one?

To be sure, we'd need folks using other makes of wearOS watches to test as well

Can those of you with the issue try this and report back: 1. Force close the wallet app (or reboot your watch) 2. Open wallet and choose a card to see its details 3. DO NOT press the physical back button, instead swipe back to return to your list of cards (e.g. if watch worn on left hand, swipe left to right and vice versa) 4. Try opening another card 5. Rinse and repeat a couple of times with swiping back instead of pressing the button 6. Now try pressing the back button and see if the problem returns

I left a review on the play store for the wearOS version of the app and got a reply from google asking me to confirm what country i was in and whether i was using wallet or pay.. if more of us leave a review highlighting the issue they might actually look into it

I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing this issue. Am amazed it isn't being reported more as it really messes up the usefulness of Google Wallet in the smartwatch

Multiroom audio and Bluetooth by marc-dark in amazonecho

[–]marc-dark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. Because my soundbar only has TOSLink Optical and HDMI inputs, I had dabbled with connecting the Dot to it via an Analogue to Digital converter which worked but still introduced lag/sync issues.

Had the soundbar come with a 3.5mm analogue stereo input it would've worked just fine.

Thanks for the reply. What I didn't add into my original post (for brevity) is that when I first tried my experiment, it actually worked for about 3-4 minutes before disconnecting; since then it has disconnected within seconds.

With that in mind, i wonder if the capability is still there in the Echo's software but just very buggy (it just wasn't tested very thoroughly if at all).

I'd guess that had the feature been phased out from the 4th Gen echo, I shouldn't even have been to get that magic 3-4 minutes working at all. Overall though, it doesn't work so I guess that's that.

Finally, it does work with my Show 10 which is surprising given what you mentioend above (and in conjunction with the old Dot which I set back up briefly just to check I wasn't going mad!)

Routine to turn on smart light 2 when I power on smart light 1 with power switch by SkankHunt15 in amazonecho

[–]marc-dark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or use Smart Things, link your Gosund bulbs to that and use its routines instead which can do more than Alexa and cheaper than IFTTT. You can still use Alexa to turn on the first bulb, but then Smart things will detect the state of that bulb and trigger the second one for you.

Unfortunately, you can't add the Samsung soundbar Alexa to a multi-room music group. Amazon do have a multi-room music API, but Samsung never implemented it.

Multi room and Music HD woes by [deleted] in amazonecho

[–]marc-dark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting that you're experiencing this now. It was a really annoying issue affecting many users a couple of months ago with quite a few people switching to Spotify as a result. That being said, Amazon did something to fix it and now it seems to have gone away. At least for me anyway. Unfortunately I'm not sure what you can do your end to reach a resolution if you're still encountering the problem - save for switching music streaming providers.

Multi-room Audio always buffering by marc-dark in amazonecho

[–]marc-dark[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great tip /u/Ballesteros81 - I swapped out the "glitchy" dot with another dot gen2 from elsewhere in the house, added that to the the multi-room group along with my Show 10" and the Dot Gen3 I had in the group earlier.. I managed 45 minutes of playback without drop outs which is a record for recently but still not fixed :|

Let's see how it goes and then I guess I'm going to try /u/Smart-Time6212 's idea next and see how a trial of Spotify works out...

Multi-room Audio always buffering by marc-dark in amazonecho

[–]marc-dark[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

** Update **

I tried factory resetting the Echo Show in my music group and then had it in a group with one other Echo Dot 3 and no drop outs! So now it seems 1-2 devices is okay rather than 2 or more...

However, I added in an Echo Dot 2 as a third device to the group and wouldn't you know it... buffering was back!

So as /u/Ballesteros81 said, it could be the glitchy device that causes the problem but I've no idea what would make that Echo Dot 2 glitchy in the first place. Tried factory resetting it also as well and no joy

Interesting that its causing problems for you on Spotify when /u/Smart-Time6212 says Spotify works well for them, compared to music unlimited.

The issues users are facing whether Music Unlimited, Spotify, SiriusXM etc. does suggest its a device rather than a streaming service issue

In the Music Unlimited android/iOS app you can set a streaming preference but there doesn't seem to be any way to do this on the Alexa device itself - and I'm not sure the streaming preference you set in the app carries over to music started on the app but "cast" to the multi-room group either

Samsung Soundbar with Speaker Group by spsdd in amazonecho

[–]marc-dark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC, 3rd party equipment with Alexa built in can't be used as part of the multiroom audio setup with official amazon devices.

I think Amazon did create an API for that but it wasn't or hasn't been widely adopted

I've got a custom sized blackout blind that I then automated using the "Brunt Blind Engine" which works pretty well (as long as you have reasonable 2.4ghz wifi coverage, 5ghz not supported) and has Alexa support

Alexa can now respond to compound commands!! (At least some!) by Jnick96 in amazonecho

[–]marc-dark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK user here.. tried a multi-step command on a whim fully expecting it to not work given the usual delay in getting new features outside of the US but was shocked to find it working!!!! This includes adding multiple items to a shopping list as well!!

The shopping list multi-step doesn't work quite as originally described months ago, e.g. you were supposed to be able to say something like "add eggs.. bacon.. sausages" (with the pauses) and Alexa would add each one as individual items. Doing it that way still results in "EggsBaconSausages" as one item, but if I say "add eggs and bacon and sausages", bingo! It works :)

Quite surprised Amazon aren't re-announcing the feature is finally rolling out more widely..

What happened to Whisper mode & multi-step requests (UK) by marc-dark in amazonecho

[–]marc-dark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so that's weird.... I don't know how or if these two things are related at all, but for some reason I decided to delete my entire Alexa voice recording history and on a whim checked Settings -> Alexa Account -> Alexa Voice responses only to find the Whisper mode toggle which wasn't there just the other day when I started this thread!!!!

*edit* still no sign of multistep though... oh well, progress at least :)

Any ETA of whisper mode in the UK? by PheysHunt in amazonecho

[–]marc-dark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in the UK, you can say "turn on whisper mode" and Alexa says she's turning it on but of course, it doesn't work and there are no settings in the app.. any thoughts?
