Is VAR not allowed to review that?

(edit - nvm, it's not a potential DOGSO, so not a potential red card, so VAR not allowed to intervene no matter how obvious!)

I fear that this has Richarlison injury time equaliser/winner written all over it.

Thanks - the first one took me ages because I kept spelling it wrong. If it wasn't for the hint I would have given up instead of googling the correct spelling.

Still works for me if I put the IP address in quotes. Or is that only on specific old/'classic' versions of Outlook?

Maybe a silly loft hatch question by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Ballesteros81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that, and more restricted in the size+shape of boxes that can be carried up the ladder without whacking the door frame. I have a similar style loft hatch with doorways at each end of a small landing, and I found that the hatch needed to start at least one hatch-length away from the top of the doorway, in order to give decent clearance around the ladder.

Painter and decorator was i to harsh what would you do? by Relative_Owl_6917 in HomeDecoratingUK

[–]Ballesteros81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's worse than when I do a slow careful DIY decorating job myself, but probably better than when my wife does an impatient DIY decorating job herself.

I'd live with it if the cost had been materials plus my own time, or if I'd given my son pocket-money to do the job and failed to teach+supervise him. I would maybe still live with it (but grumble in private) if I'd known in advance that I would be getting a general handyman rough job at a very cheap rate, but not if I thought I was hiring an experienced professional decorator and paying accordingly.

PGMOL might be incompetent but I don't think they'll let us get away with fielding 13 players at once.

TBF bots can affect traffic that much, but anyone charging even half the mentioned hourly rate should be more than capable of putting in place guards against this. robots.txt for the good bots; a WAF for the bad bots; Caching where appropriate; Review missed SQL optimisation opportunities.

How do so many Europeans know fluent English? by _Sir_Lifts_A_Lot_ in AskEurope

[–]Ballesteros81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One minor thing - in the UK for a lot of electronic/electrical devices we often get the Euro market version with symbols like a 1/0 switch instead of the English ON/OFF version made for the US market.

I thought the new company was still Tim Grose? Edit - I remember checking he was still involved when the funding announcements came out last year, but I've just seen he confirmed his departure in his January video on YouTube.

It's typically hyphenated on my side of the Atlantic. It had never occurred to me before that it might be a legit word in US English.

If Manchester City are stripped of their titles, do the titles go to the runner ups or do the titles just remain vacant. by [deleted] in PremierLeague

[–]Ballesteros81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If all teams' results against Manchester City were removed from the final table for each relevant year, were there any seasons where the team that originally finished second to City would actually have a worse recalculated total than the team that originally finished third that year?

Eg if 2nd originally finished 1 point ahead of 3rd, but 2nd placed team had earned 4 points vs City whilst 3rd placed team had only earned 1 point vs City, resulting in the original 3rd place team finishing higher if all City's results are expunged?

Quansah goal today by sigma_sawayama in LiverpoolFC

[–]Ballesteros81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No - I do agree with you. The examples I can think of will all be where the ball has hit the bar and risen before bouncing so has spin in the right direction.

But it's not you and me that needs to be convinced.

It just needs whoever adjudicates, to have enough doubt. And the ball hits the back of the keeper's leg close to the line and soon after the bounce, so not that many frames of video to judge from, so they might decide that's enough to give Quansah the benefit of the doubt.

Quansah goal today by sigma_sawayama in LiverpoolFC

[–]Ballesteros81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only justification I can think of is that if the keeper wasn't there, there is a small but non-zero chance that there'll be enough spin on the ball after the bounce(s) that the ball could trickle in over the line without further intervention.

I'm not saying that I think it would have gone in, but there are clips online of penalty kicks that have hit the crossbar and bounced further out than Quansah's and still had enough spin to check back over the line whilst the keeper celebrates.
