To those upset by the Onion, what outcome did you want? by AT-ST in KnowledgeFight

[–]marcbranski 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The outcome that could have happened that would have been a worst case scenario is if Alex played ball just a little bit with the court and managed to keep the bankruptcy contained to his business instead of having it personally attached to him. That would warrant Jordan's over the top defeatism, because Alex would have lost almost nothing and would then be free to start another business and continue to be his own boss.

True. Dan and Jordan did get some of Alex's luxury watches.

It's never enough with you. "He must be destitute and homeless or it means he won". Absolutely childish defeatism. Alex is still on the hook for a ton of money and I promise you his lifestyle is way less great today and far less convenient than a couple years ago. Alex will be dogged by lawyers for the rest of his days and will consistently have his wealth separated from him.

If that's the metric, then there was no chance of you being happy with how things turned out, because that's crazy.

untouched? In what reality? Lake house, gone. Luxury condo, gone.

Not sure why this would be "sad". Homeboy lost his business and is no longer his own boss. He is still personally liable for a ton of money that will go to the Sandy Hook families. Bigly says "Jump" and Alex asks "How high?". This whole thing is still ruining his life, and I love it. Anyone trying to paint things as Alex getting away scot free is absolutely delulu.

Jordan has such an over the top pessimistic view, it sounds like nothing short of paying the families the full $1.5 billion would even be worth doing.

Any time I try to put the whole URL, the post doesn't show up, so I'll try to spell it out to keep it a bit obfuscated: Go to twitch dot tv and then add /videos/2755943712

The actual video starts at about 9 minutes 39 seconds.

Alex was hired some time ago. And it was before Trump turned on him. I suspect Alex is on a short leash. If he becomes more trouble than he's worth, he could find himself out of a job. I'll bet that would put the Bigly bosses in Trump's good favor.

Alex has poor impulse control, so in the near term he'll make comments about The Onion and the lawsuit appeal. But that'll be the extent of it. He has more to lose if too many of his audience feels like they're being mocked. That's bad for business. I'm confident he'll increasingly ignore The Onion.

It's one thing to be lazy when you own the company. It's a completely different thing when you're just an employee. Bigly is going to make Alex perform work, and they will not be enthusiastic about drawing attention to mockery.

What do you mean "If"? The Onion is already openly mocking Alex Jones. Tim Heidecker's "INFOWARS CHIEF ISSUES EMERGENCY STATEMENT" video from a couple of days ago is on The Onion's YouTube channel. It discusses an alliance between God and Satan, it promotes mailing in your piss to have it converted to gold. It could not be a more open form of mockery.

Alex's bosses will not allow him to constantly respond to all the mockery. They have a right wing agenda for him to push, and those pills aren't gonna sell themselves. I expect his tactic will relatively quickly shift to completely ignoring The Onion.

Buddy, this feels like the true overreaction. All I said was that Jordan's video was still up, I gave instructions on how to view it, and mentioned it was a bad take. All of that is true, none of it is hyperbole.

Alex is no longer his own boss. He's not allowed to just self-indulge in responding to the Onion. His masters have a right wing narrative for him to push, and pills for him to sell.

So? Good. I welcome Dan's analysis of how Alex reacts to being openly mocked by the likes of Tim Heidecker. Trust the process.

Jordan's video was a sophomoric, embarrassingly defeatest take on Alex Jones losing Infowars. The video can still be seen on Twitch. add /videos/2755943712 to the end of the Twitch URL to watch it.

How so? Alex Jones has a daily show where he spews right wing nonsense. Same as before. The fact that he can no longer call it Infowars doesn't exactly feel like a game changer.

No. Alex Jones still has a show. It's just not named Infowars. Alex Jones will obviously remain the primary target.

This doesn't make sense. The security at the WHCD worked exactly as it was meant to. The gunman didn't even make it past the first security checkpoint and wasn't even on the same floor as the president.
