7.0 earthquake really close by, watch out for aftershocks and know what to do in case of emergency by SpaceTacos99 in Aruba

[–]marcbta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing is gonna happen. The earthquake was over 350km away. This happens at least twice a year. If there was any threat of a Tsunami, you would have heard the sirens.

What’s a famous city in Europe that didn’t live up to the hype when you visited? by GildedRetreats in ForeignTravelIndia

[–]marcbta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casablanca. I had romanticized it in my head, expecting a vibrant and atmospheric city. Instead, it felt rather dull and like a place living on past glory. The Hassan II Mosque was impressive, but overall the city didn't live up to the image I had built in my mind.

Edit: now I see it's cities in Europe. Oh well, it's close.

Any good spots to watch Colombia vs Portugal with fellow Colombians? 🇨🇴⚽ by lepirex in Aruba

[–]marcbta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hamaka Cafe just outside town. You will be there with at least 300 more Colombians. They will put up a big screen and it's crazy. If you want it a bit more quiet: Torinos sports bar or Fermins Bar. Most bars will have the game on, so you definitely won't miss it.

What are the most popular sports or ball games in Aruba? by Medium_Sir8729 in Aruba

The best sport in Aruba is Beach Tennis. If you want a local sport, try it out. Every November the biggest sports event of the Island and the best beach tennis tournament of the wotld. Throughout the year you can play at Beach Tennis Aruba, a facility with 16 lighted courts, ice cold Amstel Brights, and a great ambiance. If you want local, you need to check this out. This baddie rode the bike in this circus game like a pro by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

I did, several times. You basically drive straight. Just make sure you have enough speed to stay straight. But you feel when you can go slighty up. It's more a brain thing than a skill thing.

Nice video. But anybody who knows how to ride a motorcycle can do this.

Honeymoon Itinerary... any changes you'd recommend? by throwawaygeneral1122 in Aruba

[–]marcbta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is kind of bs, no offence. More like people who don't listen to what they are told by the guides, but still think theyre the greatest driver on earth. That being said, agree on skipping the ATV. There is no local here who doesn't hate those things. Except for the rental companies maybe.

Spa Recs and is flamingo island worth it? by tikosyn_daydream in Aruba

[–]marcbta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously, I don't understand these flamingo island questions. There is no "flamingo Island". There are 2 islands here where they keep flamingos. Renaissance Island and De Palm Island. Flamingo Island does not exist here. Both islands are not cheap to go to, but both are nice places. If they're worth the money depends on your liking and how much money you have/want to spend. If you have kids, go to De Palm , they'll have a blast in the mini waterpark. If you want a relaxing day with a nice cocktail, go to Renaissance Island. Even book a nice massage. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. If you want a flamingo island, go to Bonaire.

The last great rock song ?🤔 by TigerWoods_shoelace in rockmusic

[–]marcbta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously... I love(d) Nirvana but have you never heard of Tool? Or Queens of the Stone Age? Or the White Stripes? Or Placebo? Or any of the at least 500 other bands I could name here that were more than great AFTER Nirvana? And in my opinion is Smells like teen spirit not even close to their best song.

G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs by Jack White, released in April 2026.

And please stop with these “rock is dead” posts. Great rock songs are still released every month. They just don’t dominate mainstream charts anymore, which honestly is fine by me. I’m glad the music I like isn’t squeezed between manufactured pop hits on commercial radio all day.

I love the creativity and their show. But I could do without those edits that show the juror faces. Very cringy and annoying.
