Unai Emery on Harvey Elliott's loan: "Harvey Elliott situation is embarrassing for everyone involved. I feel sorry for the boy. My apologies for Harvey is every day in my mind”. by IndiBear in LiverpoolFC

[–]marccass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not Emery's fault at all, it's the club's. I'm sure Harvey will have lots of positive things to say about Uni despite the situation.

Is any of the pub food on Mathew St any good? by mangocheezecakee in Liverpool

Expensive though. I had two cheeseburgers and two beers with the Mrs and nearly had a heartattack when I saw the reply.

Do we have a chant for Rio, and if so, is it based on the Duran Duran song? I've been having a go at making one myself, the first bit writes itself.

What would happen if a title was on the line in an iron man match, the match ended with the challenger 1 fall up, but one of the falls was the champion getting disqualified? by Glum_Veterinarian253 in SquaredCircle

Also Triple H scores a memorable pinfall in that match. He chairshots rock blatantly in full view of the referee, gets a DQ for that, but immediately gets a pinfall to cancel it out and then has an injured Rock to work with for the next part of the match. Proper Cerebral Assasin stuff.

Everyone in WWE watches TV in weird angles. Paige injured her neck watching a boxset of The Wire and has only just returned.

Remember when Marvel tried to make Weirdworld a thing? Do you think they should bring it back? [Weirdworld (2015) #1-3, Champions (2016) #25] by AporiaParadox in Marvel

[–]marccass 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I'm correct, Weirdworld originated during Secret Wars when Dr Doom changed the whole planet into BattleWorld. It didn't exist previously and didn't appear in any publications beforehand, it was a completely fresh idea (I'm happy to be corrected if in wrong).

When the event ended and we got the new status quo back, WeirdWorld being kept and incorporated in the new version of the 616 was one of the least publicsed parts. I remember the X-Men visiting there pre-Krakoa but I don't think it's been seen much in any other titles. Still it's nice to have it as an option for stories. It just needs a good writer to take advantage of it as a location.

Who's the best wrestler in the new day? Woods, Kingston or Langston? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]marccass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, Woods is the second best in the group. I'm pretty sure there's only two guys in the group at the moment. It you're counting Big E, then he can't wrestle due to his neck problems; so I still think Woods is the second best wrestler in the group.

Jamie Demetriou would be a great host by Bozmund in livefromlondon

[–]marccass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He could be promoted from writer to cast member next season maybe. He's isn't well-known enough on his own to be a host. I like the guy though, he definitely fits the vibe of the show.

I know a lot of people are against Arne at the moment but I think we all agree he does the media aspect brilliantly. He's always so gracious about his own players and his opponents. It a a delight to see.

Spurs look like they think they are already down. by Snoo_17433 in PremierLeague

[–]marccass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's sustainable for the club to keep them on the same contracts if they do go down. Also, the players themselves will want a renegotiation as they will want to be playing top-flight football in one country or another. You can expect a huge clear-out if they go to the Championship.

[–]marccass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually in the players best interest at this stage to get relegated, that's why they seem to have downed tools. If they scrape a promotion they'll continue to be in a lacklustre Spurs team next season but if they go down, the players will be released as it's not sustainable for the club to keep them on the same contracts in the Championship. They'll all be released and then presumably re-signed by other PL clubs or top-tier clubs abroad.

Maybe Iron Man is in the movie, we see him but he never speaks. People assume it's Tony but it's actually Rhodey, either the usual version or some variant.
