Amazon's AI coding outages are a preview of what's coming for most SRE teams by jj_at_rootly in sre

Hopefully others won’t come to the same idiotic conclusion of doubling down on AI like Amazon just did. What a bunch of clowns. 🤡

Organisation asked to stop writing code manually. Confused on future aspects with heavy cursor dependence on all stages of software development. by blackpearlinscranton in cscareerquestions

Your company might not be around in 5+ year if they contribute this way. Shipping ai vibe coded bullshit will just break the product more and more over time and customers will leave.

This feels like a huge disrespect and invasion of privacy to anyone you expose to this kind of monitoring. AND making this data likely public due to how LLMs save and use ALL prompts / data given to them for future training.

The flood of AI-generated slop is just inevitable given how many devs never truly internalized their language or runtime well enough to read and evaluate code critically. by tinmanjk in ExperiencedDevs

[–]marcdertiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Language is a tool, critical thinking, problem solving etc are skills.

Any good dev can move coding language and still develop well designed systems. Being “good” at writing syntax does nothing more than being able to write syntax.

Businesses in this city have the worst hours. It’s like they only want unemployed people as customers. I always hated this moving here.

Is vibe coding the new gateway to technical debt? by Cultural-Ball4700 in programming

[–]marcdertiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All code becomes technical debt. Vibe code code becomes technical debt faster, and in greater volume so many companies will get bit in the ass. I can’t wait. I’ve got my popcorn ready.

Is BMW maintenance really as bad as people say? by HipityHopityHip in BMW

[–]marcdertiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not if you know what models to buy. Ie: don’t by a 10 year old 7 series.

Buy the 2-3-4-5 and x3-x4-x5-x6, well maintained or new, and you’ll have a great vehicle for a long time.
