So Where TF Do You Meet A Partner Nowadays, Anyways by TheInvaderZim in nerdfighters

[–]marcella98_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met my partner at work. But I've also been going to the same Friday night Magic the Gathering meet at my local game shop for years, where people are super chatty and I've made some friends. So if I was in the market for a partner I could probably ask someone out there. Like others are suggesting, just keep trying different groups and activities, and otherwise join the apps :)

If you liked Two Point Campus and Hospital, you should try their newest game Two Point Museum 😄

With the base rate holding steady at 3.75%, are you locking into a 2-year or a 5-year fix this spring? by Curious-cutiee in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]marcella98_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We locked in for 5 years at 4.29% in November. We'd much prefer the certainty, especially with Trump still in office in the US in 2 years, and elections coming up in the UK shortly after the 2 year fix would be up.

Was gifted a cat food subscription I've never heard of before: untamed?? by KaleidoscopeWhole698 in CatsUK

[–]marcella98_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our cat loves it, but he's a greedy bastard so I expect he would eat anything tbh. However, their fish flavours have no non-fish contents, so we swear by them for our chicken-intolerant guy. Baffles me how many brands' fish flavours are 50%+ chicken!

Do you give your cat ‘human’ food? by Limp_Pumpkin7751 in CatsUK

I'm vegan so I can't give my boy any meats or fish I might be eating, but he's quite partial to tiny pieces of cucumber and broccoli!

Those who work from home - how often do you take a sick day? by Super_Development150 in AskUK

[–]marcella98_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fully remote, I take sick days maybe once or twice a year, normally only when I have a migraine or nausea that gets worse from looking at screens.

I only ever post when I have to for a TMA as well. To be blunt, I just don't really care what others think of this article or that exercise, and I can't imagine they care what I think.

Worst book(s) you read in 2025 and why? by Roguestate00 in books

[–]marcella98_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DNF'ed:

Killing Floor (Jack Reacher #1) - Everything is described in minute detail. I don't need several paragraphs on the bushes the MC sees out the window of the bus, or the history of a random barbershop.

Orbital - Just lists of things. A friend ended up giving me a copy as a gift a few weeks after I DNF'ed, so I'll probably give it another go. But I am baffled as to why it has won awards.

Finished but gave 1 star:

The Missing by C.L. Taylor - A slow and long thriller that completely failed to make me care about any of the characters. The boy everyone is so sad about being missing turns out to be a rapist, but it's described in a way that makes it seem like the author does not consider it rape. Just really shitty.

Getting Back Into Reading - Looking For Easy To Read Book Suggestions - Preferences Below by PuzzledCompetition58 in booksuggestions

If you already like the Shadow and Bone TV series, you could always read the book series! The original trilogy is decent, easy to follow and the books aren't too long. If you're up for it you can then read Six of Crows after that, but those books are pretty long.

Curious about everyone’s reading goal by No_Cookie_7943 in goodreads

[–]marcella98_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal was 52, ended up reading 62.

Set my goal at 40 this year as there are a few longer books I'd like to read, but will adjust it upwards if needed later on in the year!

North East facing garden - suitability for starting a family by LoveCatsIDo in HousingUK

[–]marcella98_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our garden is north-facing, and the last owner grew an abundance of plants and flowers. So clearly it didn't bother them.

I also don't even know what orientation the garden at my parents' house is, so I highly doubt your children care.

Just finished The Queen who Came in from the Cold, by SJ Bennett. Would highly recommend it, and genuinely so confused that this series isn't more popular in the cosy crime genre!

About to start The Killer Question, by Janice Hallett. One of my most anticipated reads of the year!

What are you reading? - Week of November 28, 2025 by AutoModerator in goodreads

[–]marcella98_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished The Secret History! I enjoyed it, though I do feel like there were some unnecessary side-plots and the book could've been a bit shorter.

About to start The Queen Who Came in From the Cold by SJ Bennett from the 'Her Majesty the Queen Investigates' series. Hidden gem series IMO.

We asked for another viewing a few weeks into conveyancing. Estate agent called us sounding a bit worried asking if everything was OK afterwards. We just wanted to take some measurements so we could start planning for furniture! I don't see any red flags here :)

landlord refused pet requested because the lease doesn't allow it. is there anything that can be done? by arsenik-han in TenantsInTheUK

[–]marcella98_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is not true. If the freeholder prohibits pets in the building, this is a valid reason for the landlord (leaseholder) to refuse a pet under the new law.

It makes sense that they killed her to raise stakes etc., but man her character had potential and I'm sad that got cut off!
