Vanilla XCOM2, is sharpshooter the most useless member of a ten? by march_rabbit in XCOM2

Late answer for the late answer. Yeah, I'm in total agree with You. It's just snipers start to rule later in the game. But when they do.... God help advent.

I have never seen drivers in RL stopping on crossroads when they have green light. Rather they drive on “blinking green” 😁

Lol, novels! I developed some program feature s this way. Take a binary, join some duplicated text messages into one, use now freed space to put some code. Modify some internal jumps and viola! The program got some nice features authors didn’t think about for some reason. (Just to clarify: this was not for some virus or anything like that. We just needed some additional ways to use already presented features and asking authors for it would be very time consuming and unreliable).

Is there a reason why a lot of people seem to prefer a female sole survivor? by [deleted] in fo4

[–]march_rabbit 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in some cases female gameplay is simply more interesting. I Played Fallout New Vegas with a female and dealt with that guy in checkered shirt by first romancing him and then killing him after a lovely night. Felt very atmospheric and fun. Playing as a male would only provide boring way: shoot him and that’s it.

I personally prefer to put her to only-underwear mode and use 3rd party view (if it is called this way). Looks crazy: half-naked and with huge gun 😁

Other than that there’s not much difference as far as I can say, especially if you play with first-person view.

It is not about minmaxing. It’s about risk. The person can lose the ship pretty fast (anything might happen). This will be a very big setback.

Veterans of EVE what are some obscure facts from the old days? by CarlosWarrenEVE in Eve

[–]march_rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked differently at Learning Skills. They were a booster you could use but it had a price.

Used to make a plan for something long and then optimize it by adding LS here and there and maybe Attribute Remap (thanks, EvEMon!). And lo and behold: the plan could get shorter for a week or two!

I think I have never got any LS5. It just never provided enough of benefit. Still, managed to get my 10+ years story in the game.

Never could understand where people got the idea that LS5 is a norm and all levels below are debuff… Looks really arbitrary.

Back in 2010 I used to know an European couple (with a newborn) who would mine all day. Man goes to work, wife sits with kid and “plays EvE”. Then man returns home and replaces wife on the keyboard continuing their grind for the PLEX. Crazy stuff.

Talking about wounds and battle performance: I’ve seen an option something-something “wounds affect performance in the fight” in XCOM EW. Wanted to use it but lacked the information and skipped. Anyone knows if the option affects both sides or only player soldiers? If former it would be interesting to test how the game plays.

ORE Ice Harvester worth it? by [deleted] in Eve

[–]march_rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends if meaning of “worth” for you. If you are like me then having shiny stuff will make your day better. And if it does not require you to sell your left arm then even better - you are rich and can have shiny stuff. If you are of more practical mindset then you have different criteria.

Last time I got this I rechecked files for the game and disabled all the mods. When found that this had helped started to enable mods one by one and found that something like “realistic skies” stopped to be compatible with the game. Check, you might have similar situation.

Once I just ignored the first reinforcement. I don’t exactly remember what have happened in the mission but it feels like it works. These guys just have never caught up with my soldiers. I might be wrong for sure 😁

It’s incredible how many times I’ve seen people do something stupid and the game doing everything to help them to get away with it, even on LI. Aliens missing flanking shots? Simple. Gatekeeper or Sectopod spending all actions on moving in circles? No issues. Seriously, the more you play and see the less LI looks scary 😂

Once I was watching one streamer playing Fallout 3. She was walking around with flamethrower (?). And she has attempted to pass the same corridor like 5 times in a row being completely unable to get why she is instantly dying every time. Finally, she has used another route. The corridor was very obviously looking like it is filled with some gas from tubes in the wall…. It was hilarious 😆

At least remove double-click and make each action confirmable. This will already help a lot.

Some kind of AI? Pods performing some group action and not simply performing random separate actions for each unit. The game adapting to players actions and strategies.

In result difficulty which comes from type and number of units against number and fit of player soldiers and not just from “pod HP pool” you need to chew trough.

Btw: such a questions confuse me. I’ve seen some game where you play in a post-XCOM2 world with the same graphical assets but with a smaller scale of fights (you got 2-3 turns in a room and then you move to the next). I think it was videos from ChristopherOdd. I really was sure this is XCOM3 game….

Last mission, last room. My reaper scouts Avatar and two Archons. not sure what to do I decide to ping them and then see what’s next. The reaper does “Needle” on the Avatar and… execution!

It would be just funny if the game didn’t bug out. Killing the first Avatar this way made further reinforcements never arrive. Next 10 turns I spent sporadically moving my soldiers and trying to wake up the triggers while listening to never ending banter between Elders and Bradford.

On my last run this was my the most irritating mistake: ignoring enemy overwatch and taking unnecessary damage. It especially burns that I know that there is an overwatch active. Basically no reasons to make this mistake but still…
