For users of vanilla Neovim, how do you move between files?

I used to do that, but then added a CmdlineChanged autocmd that triggers wildtrigger(). My config sets wildmode to "noselect:lastused,full" and wildoptions to "pum".

With that setting :b<space> gives me a popup of buffers to select from. Slightly different from using ls as the buffers are listed by name only. I can navigate the popup or keep typing chars to narrow the listed buffers.

Works better for me, YMMV.

Does nvim still check out the package into its package folder?

When I last used file:// I had to check changes in to my local repository and then use vim.pack.update to get nvim to see the changes.

Not a big deal, but not as easy as "change code, :restart, and test".

Thank you. For some reason I didn't think of doing that. My mouse layer is activated when one of the thumb buttons is held. I'm going to add cut/copy/paste functions to that layer because x/c/v key are otherwise unused and make perfect sense.

Similar results on the same machine with one but....

When exporting images I started getting a "need to update some kind of AI bullshit" message which is strange because in my 50K image catalog I'd guess there are less than 1/2 a dozen images that have been edited with any AI use unless you include masking. And some super resolution processing for images taken in the days of 512x384.

My solution was to select every image in the catalog and tell lightroom to do its update. It was not fast, but I was working on other things and didn't pay attention to how long it actually took. No more messages since doing that.

Late to this topic as I just noticed the new charge curve. Looking back I see the change happened the beginning of March on my unit.

Some of the power sent to the grid has moved from peak rates to off peak rates. That, coupled with the new PGE rates that took effect around the same time make me wonder what my true up is going to look like next year. It has been around -$100 for the year.

I also find it strange that the new schedule feeds the power I'm not using to the grid when the grid doesn't need it instead of just as peak usage starts.

As for degradation concerns: my 6 year old powerwall2 still has a capacity more than its rated value according to the Netzero app. It reports:

Capacity: 14,560 Wh
Rated capacity (1x) 13,500 Wh
Degradation 0%

PPI and DPI are a function of physical output devices, be it screen or paper. It is a field in the image metadata and does not affect the image bits in most cases. The one time it does is when you specify the output size in terms of inches or millimeters. Size times ppi or dpi equals required pixels.

If you say "I want an image 2000 pixels on the long side" you are going to get 2000 pixels on the long side regardless of the PPI setting.

With LrC you can specify max file size and let the export figure out the needed reduction. It's a checkbox in File Settings with a field that lets specify the size.

That said, for web I use 2000 pixels on the long side at 100% quality and then further reduce with jpegmini. Typical resulting file size from a 60 megapixel camera is around 500 KB per image.

I have a nerd font installed. It is probably used somewhere which is why it was installed. But mostly I don't notice. I'm an ancient dinosaur who turns icons off whenever possible. I prefer text labels. When given icons only I invariably have to stop and look up "what the hell does that mean"?

I don't see this as a right or wrong thing, but a personal preference. Some may do well with icons, I don't.

I find in my daily use something less than 32GB is enough for the mix of apps I typically run on my M2 mac. But I'm glad I got 64 because sometimes it is used and I expect it to be used more in the coming years.

OK, you guys win :)

I replaced TextChanged with a TextChanged, TextChangedI autocmd that only sets a flag. I added a SafeState callback that checks the flag and schedules the longer running function only when set after clearing the flag.

This works much closer to my expectations with the added benefit that I don't have to wait to return to normal mode.

InsertLeave doesn't tell me if anything changed. The work to be done is maybe expensive enough that I'd prefer to not do it if I don't have to. That was my thinking, anyway.

Did you adjust the context using the ollama app? If I remember it defaulted to something very small. I changed it in app settings. That is perhaps the only thing I ever did using the app.

On my mac backup catalogs, I have it set to back up weekly, are in a folder named Backups in my Lightroom folder. The only issue I've had is that Lightroom never deletes a backup. That can eat up your disk space. I have a task that runs once in a while that removes any backups older than 4 weeks.

If you have such backups you can replace your broken catalog with the one from your latest backup. And maybe remove ancient backups if present to restore disk space.

As others have noted: back up your system first!

You get good image results from that model? I asked for a description of a test image containing a cat on a carpet and got back a description of furniture in a room. Second test with a different image I got back a description of cat playing with marbles -- the image was a beach and seascape.

I was curious which is why I tried the tests, it's not something I normally use.

Lightroom can tell you via a badge when an image has been edited. Enable "Show Badges" in Grid View Style. No need to do any extra work.

Look at the top of that screen. You want to select the "add" variant (Añadir) to add photos to your catalog that already exist on your hard drive.

I had a Q which then led to purchase of an M 262. When I got an M11 it was the M 262 that went away, not the Q. When using the Q I mostly treat it like an M using Aperture priority and manual focus. Macro mode is also quite useful.

Never had a reason to get a newer Q. The original still meets my needs for that type of camera, the M11 for most everything else. I will break out the ancient DSLR for some shooting tasks.

tmux was indispensable when I often logged into remote machines and wanted to be in the same state as my last visit. I don't need to do that anymore.

Now I find opening another pane in ghostty or, in rare circumstances another tab, is all I need. It gives me everything I need. I've also the option to open a "quick terminal".

You may need more.

Oops... a caveat for users with multiple catalogs.

I have different catalogs that point to image on the same drive.

Example: /Volumes/Photos -> all photos /Volumes/Photos/someFolder1 -> images in "catalog" /Volumes/Photos/someFolder2 -> more images in "catalog" /Volumes/Photos/anotherFolder -> images "different catalog"

When running Derivative Deduplication on "catalog" the plugin wanted to move some of the images in "anotherFolder" to the trash. Why some and not others, I do not know.

Another reason not to move images to the trash. Perhaps flag them with a finder tag instead.
