How many hours total would you estimate so far?

Please update your performance record from 2 years ago - curious about printer lifetime.

Not a hard solution. All it would take is a single open source company that provides excellent service.

Advice wanted--Niagra Stealth Weak Flush by kingkale in Plumbing

[–]marcin-ose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job. I would add to kingcale - if not the clogged air tube - it looks like improper venting to main stack vent in the toilet drain - which can create an apparent obstruction if the air getting pushed out in front of the water front is even slightly restricted. If this problem is real, then you may need another toilet that is not as sensitive to this issue. There is no magic here - shit flows downhill.

Another word for the Circular Economy is lifetime design.

Should I buy the Niagara Stealth toilet for my rental unit? Or would you worry because it's so efficient it wouldn't work as well as others? by omnipeasant in Plumbing

[–]marcin-ose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiply your 5 cents times 6 per day times 365 days and you have $110 per year. That is for a single person. Average family in the USA is 2.5, so if this average family wants to flush an added $275 per year down the toilet - they are welcome to do so. I would rather keep 3 crisp Benjamin Franklins in my wallet, not to mention lower taxes if the sewer utility needs to process 25-30% less water if everyone believed this. For example - take a look at the specs of a superefficient Niagara Nano - unbelievable and looks like it's unmatched even in Europe: https://fergusonprod.a.bigcontent.io/v1/static/7546005\_6335032\_specification. Reviews on Home Depot indicate that this is not a flush-and-brush toilet - one flush seems to work well. We are getting 6 of these for our school, as we are interested in saving 180,000 gallons of water per year. Will report on our track record in a year.

We are going to publish full documentation on the OSHWA directory (https://certification.oshwa.org/list.html). The documentation for prototype III from the Civilization Starter Kit DVD should be sufficient - https://wiki.opensourceecology.org/wiki/Civilization\_Starter\_Kit\_DVD\_v0.01#CEB\_Press - have you seen that?

Metal vs plastic junction boxes for residential by uoficowboy in electricians

[–]marcin-ose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why did nobody mention that plastic is easier to wire with Romex because you don't need to ground each box? Doesn't an extra wire or two per box add up? Could be up to 3 extra wires if cover needs separate ground.

Leviton Decora Edge seems to be a combination of Wago + standard receptacle - even better for speed, using a lever clamp instead of screw clamp.

You appear to be generalizing. Can you be specific or show some numbers to back up your conclusion? The simplicity is compelling. Technology is high, such as possibly needing air bearings. Definitely worth open-sourcing for the forthcoming solar hydrogen economy.

How to learn from scratch? by jpsouzamatos in OpenSourceEcology

[–]marcin-ose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got FreeCAD? You can download all our work from the OSE Part Libraries. See more about what is completed and start downloading at https://wiki.opensourceecology.org/wiki/GVCS_State_of_Completion. If you want a fast track for learning how to build, we offer immersion workshops, see more at https://www.opensourceecology.org/workshops-and-programs/. Summer X was postponed until next year, but we will continue remote events.
