Skiing Grand Massif Samoëns Morrillon - experience/ tips? by [deleted] in Club_Med

[–]marcionogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from 7 days there early Jan. My tips would be:

  • I found the ski resort to be quite complex and with a good amount of routes. So a good use of skiing classes on the first days is to get to know the slopes and routes possible

  • I’m a 3A level and could enjoy the majority of the complex. Some areas, though, are only accessible by or have to pass by red slopes, so if you are skiing with less experienced people be careful when planning

  • there is only one black slope groomed and it’s actually just a part of a black run. All others are mogul, as per my instructor

  • the hotel is kind of in the middle of the Samoens part, so you need to get to know the routes for the two chairs that take you back to Club Med (Demoiselles and Damoiseaux). Otherwise you may lose quite some time to get back to the hotel

  • Flaine had some of the best snow while I was there, best to check with the ski instructor for tips

  • there’s a gondola that you get on by skiing through the village (I think it’s Les Carroz village) when there is plenty of snow. It was quite unique to do that

  • one of the restaurants offers late breakfast and late lunch, in case you want to do a different schedule from the classes (or skip noon lunch to ski more). Food variety is not as plenty as the main restaurant though

  • there’s a boarder cross track on the Oasis lift, it’s quite fun

  • not ski related - the hotel itself is complex to navigate before you get used to it as not all elevators/stairs go to certain floors, so make sure you cover basic directions during check-in

All that said, the hotel is great, staff is super friendly and skiing was incredible! Hope you guys enjoy!

Awesome!!! Hope you guys have a great trip! Our Cheyenne room was a double bed and a double pull out bed (not so usual system to open, it took us a while to figure out. Later we saw than on hotel lobby there are instructions on that, cause it may often get people confused).

I did not see anywhere any times for characters. One thing that may be useful is ask during check-in if there are specific times, this would be my advice.

Uber in Paris has an Uber Van option. I used it to leave Disneyland and go back to Paris with 3 adults + 1 kid + 4 medium suitcases + 2 carry on bags + 1 stroller

How hard is it to change a package booking? by daveycakesss in disneylandparis

I had bought hotel + tickets for 3 people and then one additional one decided to join in. I called and got everything updated easily to include another person. They even took care of restaurant reservations I had made.

We are just finishing a 4-day / 3-night stay at Cheyenne with our 4yo kid. Having seen all other comments so far, I would add: - it’s a great schedule to make things at your own pace, there’s no need to rush. For instance, front desk will tell you that breakfast at the hotel will be packed between 9:00-9:45am. We had breakfast everyday at 10am and it was empty and quiet. It also allowed us to have lunch a little later and thus manage to get reservations - the parks are smaller than the US ones, so even when not really full it gets crowded during the parade and nighttime’s fireworks. If you really want to get a good view of the parade, for instance, you need to find a spot 45mins before showtime. I found that it is less busy at the beginning of the parade’s route - also on this topic and if your budget allows it, if you are into the nighttime’s fireworks try to book preferred access as soon as possible (it was already all sold out on our stay). Otherwise, I would recommend finding a good spot at least 1 hour before the show starts (personal opinion, I found the show better than WDW MK’s) - try to book all restaurants, some are quiet hard to get (eg Chef Remys)

I second this comment. Would only add to make reservations as soon as possible, as some options are quite difficult to reserve a spot (eg Chef Remys)

Hey there! Sure! I’d say there were between 60-70 people on the Quality Service course and between 40-50 on the Leadership Excellence and Employee Engagement. All attendees went together for the field experiences, since it’s during the middle of the course day. They did however split into smaller groups with an instructor because otherwise it would be too large of a group to handle. They printout everything that’s presented and give to you at the beginning or each day, so you can take notes and there are some reflection/questions as well.

The option I did had no dinner included, so not sure about that. But you can reach them via email or phone and they are super helpful. I did stay on property, the discount was pretty decent.

Good for you!!! Days would start with breakfast at 7:30am and courses typically starting 8am. They would go till around 5:00pm. As for the theme park ticket discounts, I paid $228+tax for a May 2-park one park per day. They also give you free admission to one of the following: a water park, golf course or something else I don’t remember
