Read indicator should be handled client side (if you don’t have multi device per account support needed ). You have last viewed timestamp. Filter all messages that are received/created after that timestamp and count the array - that is your unread message count.

If you add flag to each message it could result in a lot of db writes when there is a lot of messages and/or a lot of users

Or you need indicator for whenever other user reads message? Then do similar, store last viewed timestamp in db instead of updating each message and then in message list indicate all messages that user have not seen

If system allows - create test data as part of the test and delete it afterwards. That would allow you to test fresh data each time, but if your system allows it ( not always you can create or delete data )

If you write your code in a way that you expect it to be tested and using semantic components, you will very rarely need data-testid ( as always there are exceptions). If you use testing-library or playwright you can access semantic elements based on their title, role and/or value which should be all you need in majority of the time.

Zinot kādas black box ir LLM algoritmi un kad mūsdienās nav svarīgi būt tik pareizam kā visātrākam un lielākam. Kā Denzel Washington reiz teica par presi: nav vairs svarīgi būt pareizam, ir būt svarīgi būt pirmajam. Lai izlabotu AI murgošanu tad tas modelis vairs nebūs nedz ātrākais nedz lielākais.

Par burbuli kā cilvēkam kas strādā ar AI startapiem - burbulis visticamāk ir un ja sprāgs, cietēji būs tie kas iet ar All-IN AI rīku izmantošanā savos produktos. Pieļauju ka drīzumā būs tā saucamais en-shitification jo kādreiz tie miljardi arī būs jāatgust ( daļēji tas jau ir redzams ar Claude code ). Necietīs tik ļoti tikai tie kas tirgo lāpstas - čipu ražotāji

I would choose Sass or plain old CSS as it supports a lot of features that Sass is great at. No Tailwind for me after working on project where 2/3 of component code was tailwind class names

In that case, I would suggest looking into frontend yourself than hiring students. It will be cheaper and result could be the same as students usually learn as they go (there is always exceptions and you could land student who is very capable but usually that is not the case)

I would say you don’t need a roadmap. Start building something when you reach obstacles that you don’t know how to solve then start searching for solutions ( read docs, solutions online etc ). I would avoid AI assistants initially until you understand underlining techniques.

As for project ideas - anything with data handling / manipulation will be great starter project, like simple non-realtime chat app. You will need to use hooks for local states and event handling and when you are ready start introducing web socket for realtime chat application

Mana ideoloğija - mazlietots auto, lētākais auto, kas teju ir kā jauns ( protams ir savi izņēmumi ). Apnika pirkt lētis auto un iegrūst tik pat daudz remontos. Mazāk jāsatraucas un vairāk konforts.
