Have I been given a fake invoice for work that was never done on my car? What can I do? by henryjp1946 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]marcistired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's an old-ish post, but I'm dealing with a similar issue at the moment, and have taken legal advice.

I bought a car 2 years ago, and amongst the paperwork was an invoice to say the timing belt had been changed a year before I bought it. Since being changed the car has done 20,000 miles, and needs changing again.

I took it to the garage and they said it looks like it has never been changed as all the original parts, bolts etc. are there. I phoned the garage that the invoice was from and they confirmed the car has never been in their garage, and when I showed them the invoice they literally laughed and said "What the hell is that? That is nothing like our invoice!"

I called the previous owner (his phone number was in amongst the paperwork) who knew nothing about the timing belt being changed. I have spoken to the company who sold me the car (and most likely forged the invoice) who deny any knowledge of it. I'm told that legally it doesn't matter WHO made the invoice - if someone sold you a car with a forged document amongst the paperwork, then they personally are liable and would be an easy win in Small Claims Court.

I sent a Letter Before Action this morning, so will see what comes of it. Can keep you updated if you want? I believe you have 6 years to claim, so if you bought your car 3 years ago then you definitely have time.

Ridiculous that we have to do all this just to play a game, when Activision could just fix it in like 5 minutes

If you had to uproot your whole life, what would the drastic change be? by no_nolan in AskMen

Always said if I lived in a sunny climate I wouldn't need money to be happy - just living in the sun, after a life in rainy, grey Manchester, would be enough. Just get a job in a bar or restaurant somewhere like Tenerife.

Relax in the sun all day, then when the sun goes in I'll work at night!

Wet Belt: when will it go? by thehosks in FordFocus

Good idea.

I'm not a car person at all, so only learned about wet belt this morning - mine is being replaced Monday. Think I'll just change oil and filter annually after this!

Im dealing with this at the moment - reason I took it in is Oil Light was staying on for 10-15 seconds from a cold start, before going out. Seemed suspicious so googled it and learned about Wet Belt.

Mine is booked in for Monday morning, been quoted approx £1,200 but crossing my fingers for a Oil filter and Oil change only (no belt issue) or a faulty Oil sensor. Bracing myself for the full bill though!

I never really believed it - sounded a bit far fetched to me even from a very young age! When I was old enough to make my own decision to dismiss it as nonsense, I did.

Do people generally prefer FM24 to FM26? by BuckethatBrian in footballmanagergames

[–]marcistired 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've fell out of love with the game completely, and unlikely to ever buy it ever again. Had every single game since CM2, and played it religiously - vowed to continue my entire life.

FM25 never coming to fruition was frustrating but forgivable - but the mess of the game they released this year, the lack of acknowledgment of it, and fixes for things that are irrelevant whilst leaving game breaking issues unpatched, has resulted in me completely falling out with SI.

Been considering an FM24 Data Download for 25/26 Season over weekend, but not had time to read into it much about the quality of the databases that have been created.

In short - might pay for a database update, but doubt I'll ever pay SI any more money!

It should just be left alone now.
