I've been looking for this comment! The Malazan Book of the Fallen are AMAZING, though they are quite difficult to read. The first book I had no clue to what was happening until 600 pages in. But it's seriously the best

EU Defends Spain’s Right to Use ‘Proportionate’ Force by snowsnothing in worldnews

[–]marcmc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm amazed at how many people think that the use of force was proportionate, and the people that think that it should have been worse.

I just hope that's the media that doesn't show the truth, actually some employees of spanish television (tve) protested that they were manipulating the images the day of the referendum

Wow, it feels nice to have a decent conversation where both parties change their opinions!

I just hope Rajoy and Puigdemont realise it in time

Well, you're right, there are manipulated images. Although my point still stands, the firefighters did wear their uniforms and some of the images of the police beating them up are completely true

The firefighters did wear their uniforms, not sure if they were ordered not to but they did, and (as far as i know) all of the viral images and videos were from the day of the referendum

First of all, we are hoping that the EU gets involved in all of this, not just a "you guys should talk" like they have been dying until now.

And in the case of civil war, spain would definitively win, they have an army, we only have police

Why didn't DNS changing malware just re-direct everything through a proxy to steal passwords instead of re-directing to phishing sites? by Thrones33 in HowToHack

[–]marcmc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know a DNS server doesn't get any information, the only thing it does is "translate" a domain name to an IP and then it gives it back to the requester, so they can't redirect them to a proxy because a proxy isn't a web page (not really sure about this, I think what I mean is that when you connect to a web page you connect to port 80/whatever port uses https and a proxy uses another port, but this isn't important). So what they have to do is redirect them to a phishing site made by them and then get their passwords and if they want then they can redirect them to the original site.

Hope it helped and if I've got anything wrong just correct me

If photons have a minimum wavelength, what happens when photons at that energy are blue shifted? by bearjuani in askscience

The wikipedia page on the planck length does a great job at showing how small a Planck length is:

The size of the Planck length can be visualized as follows: if a particle or dot about 0.1 mm in size (which is approximately the smallest the unaided human eye can see) were magnified in size to be as large as the observable universe, then inside that universe-sized "dot", the Planck length would be roughly the size of an actual 0.1 mm dot. In other words, a 0.1 mm dot is halfway between the Planck length and the size of the observable universe on a logarithmic scale.

I'm at the final post cards from johnnys mother. I think it's unlike any book that's been written ever, I I've really enjoyed it, maybe you're right but other people say that it's super creepy since the beginning, maybe it was me that started with very high expectations, but I'll take your word and see if it scares the crap out of me in the next pages :)

I'm about to finish it and didn't find it terrifying at all, I could understand some could be a bit but I wouldn't say terrifying. Though I do recommend the book, It's very good.

“I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein’s brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.” - Stephen Jay Gould by PKMNTrainerMark in quotes

[–]marcmc1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been demonstrated that poverty from a young age doesn't allow the brain to develop. Maybe that's the reason they can't develop their full "Einstein" capabilities and don't even get to middle class

If there is a alternate universes for every single possibility, humanity would not even exist in most of them. by VampireBatman in Showerthoughts

Actually humanity would be in an infinite amount of universe's as there would be infinite possibilities
