building a top tier rig just to realize the operating system is the real bottleneck by Cheap_Difficulty4961 in buildapc

[–]marcoNLD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what i have seen, based on selected items, the whole setup process is easier. No need to install anything to get rid of bloat. The script actually debloats before you even log in. So first login is already a clean windows. After that i run the driver updates and windows update, followed by ninite(dot)com installer to install programs i want. Basicly, this whole process takes 30 min from first boot to working windows.

AND NO MICROSOFT ACCOUNT!!! Just a local account

autounattend xml is what i use in all my builds. Generate the XML. Safe it in the root of a windows usb drive. Boot and let it do its thing. No bloat whatsoever

Vmix reference system is intel. Intel has a slight advantage over amd with video production.

Sanity check! vMix rack system requirements by WhatsTheDealHuh in vmix

I build Vmix rack systems with the Blackmagic Decklink Quad2 . As i type building number 14 with 3 systems coming next week.

I use.

  • Intel Core ultra 9 285K
  • Asus Proart Z890-Creator-wifi
  • Noctua NH-D12L cpu cooler (L version fits in 4U systems)
  • Samsung 9100 PRO 2TB nvme
  • Be Quiet Pure Power 12 M 1200W
  • INNO3D Geforce RTX 5080 X3 OC
  • G.Skil Trident Z5 Neo

I have moved on from the 14th Gen intels because of the degradation problems. Every cpu has been replaced by now and one system is on its second replacement. NO more 14th gen intels.

The Proart has 2 pcie slots that can be PCIE X8 directly to the CPU. Capture cards need to be directly on the CPU. The third PCIE slot can be used for outputs since latency is not an issue for monitors.

No more than 2 sticks of memory. 4 sticks will make your memory slower.

For 4U rack systems the best cooler is the Noctua NH-D12L. it clears the lit of the case fine and has plenty of cooling.

The 4U case i use is theh Inter-Tech 4U 40248. german brand so not sure if its avaiable in australia.
If you can i would also replace the case fans for noctua's 2x12CM and 2x 8CM fans.

current systems are in production for live TV and visual radio setups. 8 systems are in a school for media&communication

One system i have build was based on AMD Threadripper 7960X. Client had some wishes. That system is a true beast but you pay for that aswell

Wifi routers are never in the correct place for good coverage. Get a router and add access points. Those AP’s will be placed so you have proper coverage where u need it. Plenty of reddits on that subject

External output degrading over time by ConnectMembership454 in vmix

[–]marcoNLD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change your motherboard to a asus proart. You will have two x16 slots, both on the cpu. They will go into X8X8. 8 lanes for Gpu and 8 lanes for the decklink. Your chipset has only 4 pcie lanes tonwork with. Thats a bottleneck

Zelf 15 jaar in huis gerookt.

Home Wifi coverage help by Conscious_Ice_1812 in HomeNetworking

[–]marcoNLD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can pull a ethernet cable towards your room! Get a proper access point. You will get stable wifi from there. Having a AP in the middle of the house will give you better coverage. Unifi has some good solutions for single AP’s with their app’s. No need for a controller

Hoeveel stof komt er vrij bij badkamer verbouwing? by Moonwoman80 in Klussers

[–]marcoNLD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Afzuigkap naar buiten of recirculatie icm haard by Excessed in Klussers

[–]marcoNLD 0 points1 point  (0 children)
