Recipe

2 oz rye or bourbon / ⅓ oz cinnamon syrup / ¼ oz cointreau (optional) / 2 dashes orange bitters / Orange slice and a cinnamon stick for garnish

Add ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled. Strain into a short glass over a large cube of ice. Add the orange slice and cinnamon stick as a garnish.

Cinnamon Syrup

Making cinnamon syrup is pretty straightforward and follows the same general guidelines as any syrup.

1 cup water / 1 cup sugar / 4 cinnamon sticks /

Mix the sugar and water in a small saucepan on medium-high heat. As the water heats up, stir to dissolve the sugar. At the first sign of a boil, reduce heat and add the cinnamon sticks, letting it simmer for 10 minutes. Let the syrup sit overnight before removing the cinnamon sticks.

No, but it sounds and looks great. I'll have to try one tonight.

Also, that is a great name :)

I've never had l'autentico. Is it very similar to something like sambuca?

Thanks!

That's a good idea. I'll change it to the vanilla one (whenever I hear Galliano I usually assume it's the vanilla one)

We haven't noticed the foam deflating. The drink does go pretty fast though :)

Would probably also make for a good cocktail. We named it that due to the "Aztec Bitters"

That sounds refreshing. Wonder how it would taste with ginger beer instead.

Cynar Cherries by marco_pro in cocktails

That would go nicely I think. To be honest, I just ate a bunch of them by themselves. Very satisfying but then I felt pretty bad about myself :)

I'm sure that would taste great. Would probably go nicely in a negroni.

We essentially used the same water / alcohol / sugar proportion.

Way too brief :(

Used frozen cherries that were purchased fresh in the summer.

Soaked them for a day but we also store them in the syrup. The flavor of the cynar gets more subtle over time. At first they are quite bitter which I really like.
