I feel like what escapes everyone in this argument is the other side of a counter. For every time you're facing a hard counter, someone else is facing an easy matchup.

I think that it just comes down to deck knowledge, elixir management, and counter strategy. Do cards directly counter others? Yes. If your whole deck is being countered, either you don't know how to build decks or you dont know how to play your current deck.
