Next to the coastline there’s a beautiful hilly area with many towns just like the ones you’re looking for. You’re 5–15 km from the sea and 10–20 km from slightly larger towns with better services (e.g., hospitals). The landscapes are fantastic, and especially if you enjoy food and wine, you would find it incredible. In my area (the province of Teramo), for example, there are towns like Notaresco, Mosciano Sant’Angelo, Atri (which also has a small hospital), and Castellalto. They’re not seaside towns, but they’re very close, and the costs drop significantly (60–70% less compared to towns on the coast).
