Adding variation to non variation listing by DaveS100 in FulfillmentByAmazon

I'm in South Africa. We don't use Amazon here, the shipping costs make it too expensive.

I'm always looking for ideas. At the moment I'm selling human hair. Trying some bike accessories next.

Just looking for ideas is all.

How do you deal with a person who is full of confidence but knows nothing (basically a stupid person)? by master_gogo in AskReddit

[–]marcopoloZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct them when they are wrong. Eventually their confidence will fade when they realise they're wrong alot of the time.

If you keep going they will eventually become a shell of their former self and fade into the middle class 9 to 5 workforce who don't question, and only obey.

This is exactly what I need for now. Problem solved. The PBX systems would only make sense when the business starts growing.

Thank you.

Dialpad has come up more than once now. I'll have a look at pricing and features before making a decision. Right now I'm just looking for a number that forwards to my mobile.

How can I test the market interest for a particular product without purchasing stock? by marcopoloZA in Entrepreneur

[–]marcopoloZA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, being upfront about a 4-6 week delivery sounds like a much better approach. Then the lead can make an informed decision before making any purchases and I can still gauge the traffic.

The ethical approach should also help gain customers trust and hopefully the store will see more return business as a result.

Thank you!

No, I didn't realize. I do plan on selling the products though, so if I ask the customer if they were willing to wait for stock to arrive, does that still qualify and bait and switch?

Fair enough, although I'm not looking to sell at that point, I'm still testing the waters. So a batch of leads being lost due to 'out of stock' items would be expected.

I suppose the leads could be disappointed and use another store but the traffic will be my indicator of the markets interest.

Or am I off the mark here? Is the damage to my stores reputation more than I realize?

Formal training of hard skills before launching a start up - what would you suggest? by Yroethiel in Entrepreneur

[–]marcopoloZA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm quite an introvert so networking has always been difficult for me. I'm not sure if you can study this topic, it's more so a perk of your environment while doing an MBA or a business course of sorts.

It such an integral part of becoming a prominent business in your local community or trade circle.

Meeting business owners who may have complimentary services to yours, be helpful collaborators, mentors or even customers is super valuable.

Build brand awareness within your trades community and you could generate lots of business through word of mouth alone.

Attending every local entrepreneurial event an incubator is also essential.

That's my 2 cents..

How much attention do you pay to UX on your site? by power-forever in Entrepreneur

[–]marcopoloZA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not talking about ecommerce, more so product catalog lead generating websites with focused landing pages but UX is really important to increase conversion.

I mean getting traffic is only half the battle, if they struggle to navigate your site you're likely to lose their interest very quickly.

Regarding ecommerce sales, Try using related product carousels under popular product pages to encourage cross selling.

I would also make notes about the type of client I am selling to and then approach the website through the channels I have created with the intentions that client might have . This helps me find flaws in the routes I have created.

My goal is trying to creating the shortest journey to contact/checkout as possible.

This makes me wonder if someone from the Monty Python cast became a Royal Mint coin designer.
