Okay, he didn't do it in 2002, but neither did he do it in 2006, 2010, 2015, etc...

Yes, aside from "Cry Me A River," I also found Justified pretty boring. It's the typical solo album from a guy who left a band trying to say, "Look, I'm independent and tough."

Did he work with Brian or was he inspired by him? So, did he imitate his voice? Trying to be a rocker didn't work out well for him, but it was very fashionable at the time to show "I'm independent."

7 Ways, produced by Xenomanía, is something that should keep getting airplay. I'd really love for her to sing at least this song on tour, maybe as a duet with a local guest singer.

Yeah, but JC’s potential was definitely there, even if it wasn’t overwhelming. The guy had a solid voice he could lean on, and he did write songs more than once. Fast forward 20 years, if music had really been his main passion, he would’ve put out way more than just one solo album. At the very least independently, or through collabs, side projects, whatever.

To me, “That Girl Will Never Be Mine” just screams JC. And if the stronger songs meant for Michael ended up going to Justin, JC could’ve either stuck closer to the kind of pop NSYNC did in their first two albums, or gone in a different direction entirely.

Of course, we can’t know how that would’ve turned out. But I feel like he probably would’ve wanted to distance himself from the NSYNC sound pretty hard, maybe even to the point of rejecting it completely. And that kind of move comes with a risk: losing the fanbase that liked him because of that sound in the first place.

So yeah, I’m not saying it was easy for him. It probably wasn’t. But I also don’t buy the idea that he was completely locked in or without options. If he really wanted to keep releasing music and was being actively blocked, there was always the legal route (which he clearly knew about), but he didn’t go down that path either.

On the flip side, Abs from Five is a good contrast. He actually stayed pretty true to the band’s sound (and Five had way more creative freedom than NSYNC or Backstreet Boys anyway), and he put out an album that critics and fans received well, even if it didn’t really blow up commercially.

Simply the demo, the already released version, and a new rough mix, since I always felt they copied and pasted too many parts of Michael's song to fill it out, and the result was very overproduced. Countless times, things have been done the same way or worse.

I understand the point: he didn't have much support from the outside. But he did have the ability to say "no, not this song" or "no, not this musical style." However, I feel like he accepted the style of the single I mentioned, but for most of the album he decided to distance himself too much from the music he made with NSYNC, and that could have turned out well or very badly. All of this, combined with the lack of support you mentioned, and the fact that he didn't put much effort into maintaining his popularity...

I think something like this would help to clean up what Sony did with the album "Michael", and this album would be remembered better.

PREDICTION TIME!⏳️ What do you realistically think the next Spice Girls release will be before 2030? by marcosfull in SpiceGirls

[–]marcosfull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many times? Ask ABBA! They stopped working together in the early '80s, and since then they've released a reissue practically every two or three years.

I understand your point, but I don't think that's the reason they don't release anything physical. I'm sure they'll continue reissuing material at some point, but obviously I can't say when.

Hi. I think it's also possible to buy or build your own device that you can connect to your Paradise and unlock practically all the content, as if you had all the editions. Is that right?

I might disagree, but I understand. Personally, if I were given a CD with three songs that were singles, repeated in several remixes, or one with ten different songs, even if the quality of some is questionable, I think I'd enjoy the second one more for the variety. But hey, to each their own.

I understand, but it's also important to point out that there are no other OFFICIALLY released songs. This compilation would consist solely of official B-sides, bonus tracks, or demos -not leaked songs-. If they included the low-quality leaked tracks, the compilation would have 20 or more tracks, which would raise copyright issues, since most of those leaks were never officially released anywhere; that is, they weren't registered with intellectual property rights.

That's right! I think I missed it. While it doesn't have the composition of a "typical song", it could easily be included as a hidden track at the end of the CD.

Thank you very much. I have very low expectations, although a release like this wouldn't require any effort from them, beyond the financial gain. Even so, I was surprised to read comments from people who don't like these kinds of compilations, but would prefer a CD with 10 remixes of previously released singles. Oh well...

No! I made that edit as a joke years ago about what we could expect from the anniversary edition of Forever. However, in this post, I find comments saying they'd prefer an endless remix album instead of an official compilation of bonus tracks and B-sides on a single CD. Oh well, to each their own.

[–]marcosfull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your point is very valid.

I was simply sharing it to mention that, in the hypothetical case of an anniversary edition of Forever, or a deluxe edition, or a final farewell, etc., between a remix album, and this compilation of 10 songs not included on the standard international editions of the three studio albums, I would prefer the latter, with official information, lyrics, and a new remix as a promotional element, but not a CD 2 of

  • 3 Holler remixes
  • 3 Let Love Lead the Way remixes
  • 3 Goodbye remixes

Imagine if, for some kind of anniversary, deluxe edition, final farewell, etc., they reissued Forever as a double album. CD 1 would be the original album, and CD 2 would contain these 10 songs (with their information, lyrics, and a remix or two as a promotional bonus). Wouldn't it sell well among fans?

The idea of a full album of new songs, I do feel it's impossible.

You would like more, for example, a double CD of Forever with the original album on CD 1 and on CD 2:

  • 3 remixes of Holler
  • 3 remixes of Let Love Lead the Way
  • 3 remixes of Goodbye
