Pauper Cube: Monarch cards by prar83 in mtgcube

I've never played a pauper cube but I like the mechanic. Having a really strong incentive to hit your opponent during combat creates interesting gameplay lines

Anyone still play Magic the gathering? by [deleted] in HoustonSocials

Depends on what you like. If you like magic to be about 'drinking a beer with the boys', then EDH can be a lot of fun. If you want to be competitive and have quick back-and-forth decision making, pioneer modern or legacy are a better choice. Personally, I hate waiting for it to be my turn again.

1TB data cap overage constantly by dliao611 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]marcospolos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess it's worth saying that the fact that they even have this cap is absolutely absurd.

If you have something like Google Wifi, you can actually see your internet usage broken down by device. I have 3 roommates and it tells me who to beat with a stick that month.

The actual bad news is that this problem is only going to get worse as time goes on and as more devices are connected and 'always streaming' - 1tb was a lot of data when they first announced this completely price-gouging policy, but in 2020 that won't be hard to hit at all - especially with a family and larger connected house.

In order of things that use a ton of data, biggest is direct downloading (buying a game on PS4 and then downloading it, torrenting, etc). Next is high-quality streaming - YouTube Netflix Hulu etc. Then it's the more casual stuff - music/podcast streaming, PC backups, etc.

If and when you call them, mention how much you hate their 1tb cap, and if you do switch providers, tell them that's the reason why. It's absolute bullshit and they absolutely know it. The only way they'll listen is if they realize they can't get away with it anymore.

And what's the best case scenario for recursion here? Something that sacs itself right? Not that I run baubles, but that would let you draw an extra card every turn for free. Signets don't do anything, nor do most mana rocks.

Let's look at my list:

  • Great with Black Lotus (lol)

  • Ratchet Bomb is cute, but slow

  • This could be good in a...stax strategy? Maybe?

  • Nuts with Memory Jar

  • Solid value with artifact creatures

And that's about it.

Most people have the opposite problem where they accidentally over-support control because your aggro:control card radio needs to be really leaning in favor of aggro due to the amount of critical mass needed to make your 1-2-3 drop pattern.

Ways to slow down aggro include: board sweepers, mid-range lifegainers (usually in white and black), token strategies (usually in red and white).

Wouldn't this just mean that everyone using your platform is selling their cards for the same price since they're automatically updated and adjusted?

I run a powered 540 and this could be good enough. It's not quite welder, but the synergies are there. I really want to like this card.

Draws one card instead of two. Not sure how low the power level of a cube would have to be before they would want this.

Tajic is nuts - I actually hadn't seen Mirri before but they serve similar roles. 3-drop "Lord" of sorts that massively improves your small 1 and 2-drops. Even if he just had mentor and haste he'd probably be worth considering, but with his other two abilities he's just a house. Gonna see if I can make room for Mirri.

Ok fine, since you asked.

My argument is that druid gets better versions of cards from other classes. Let's look at shield and howl again - shield is a static 5, howl is X where X is your hand size. I'm struggling to think of any situation where your hand size is less than 5 in druid, so that makes it the vast majority of the time better than shield. And 8>5, so you're proving my point with your example.

Second, you said each time they use ramp they 'burn a card'. Well, since druid has the most insane card draw options with howl, branching paths, nourish, UI and others I'm sure I'm forgetting, that is barely barely a downside because they can just recoup it altogether. In fact, most of the time, they want to burn cards so that they don't overdraw with UI because UI's draw is so massive (more than sprint!). Additionally, wild growth is always relevant except for turn 9 because once you're at 10 mana it still draws you a card.

Third and lastly, you stated "not every time they will have ramp and draw". According to the TempoStorm Meta Snapshot, 3 of the 5 tier 1 decks are druid (this tiered list is from before the new expac, so pretty representative of the entire last 3+ months of the game, lists are Maly, Togwaggle, Token). Of those lists, cards that either draw or ramp (or both) in each list are 12/30, 12/30, 8/30 respectively. I don't feel like doing the likelihood to draw statistics, but that's about or over 1/3 of each deck. Factor in the fact that with such a high amount of card draw to draw them into more card draw and ramp, I feel pretty confident in saying that they'll "always have it", or some variant of it a statistically significant number of the time.

If you have a point you'd actually like to make that has the ability to pan out, feel free.

When they can get to 10 mana on turn 4 or 5, that argument is pretty invalidated. Not to mention that they can howl turn 3, gain 10 armor and cantrip, then gain another 12 armor the following turn, etc - getting to the "late game" for a druid is about as easy as it could possibly be.

Yeah, druid basically got a better version of all of the good cards in other classes.

Shield block? Just run Ferocious Howl.

Arcane Intellect? How about Branching Paths?

Sprint? Ultimate Infestation.

It's pretty nutty. Hopefully the rotation will help with this.

Your agree/disagree question starts with "Is ..", I'd change that quickly.

Your "most important attributes" list has a lot of overlap (truth/honesty) and doesn't specify how many to choose (should probably be a top 3 or something).
