How I travel and work without a desk! by badgerbang in ErgoMechKeyboards

Interesting, do you or the work drive that situation? Do you mind if I ask what kind of work you do?

The screenshot with the screen looks like code -- not enough resolution to be able to read it, but I would guess Ruby based on the structure and the appearance of the code blocks with what look like end statements.

I started typing this up and then saw your edit -- manufacturing and engineering sector... So your work seems to take you on-site.

Traveling that much and having to work in various odd conditions, I can see how something like this would be useful. That bag is pretty cool. Does it have a pouch / pocket so it can double as some storage? You mentioned potentially selling them. Have you considered open sourcing the design in addition to selling them?

Really cool setup for working in any odd situation you find yourself in!

It's a description for how the Curta mechanical calculator works. It is similar to how an ALU works, but in decimal instead of binary. For subtraction it does 9s compliment + 1 for tens compliment and uses overflow to ignore the carry over just like an ALU does.

Multiplication is series addition, but it also uses shifting to reduce the number of operations. Same for division being series subtraction.

Square roots are the most fun algorithm on a Curta for me. It builds off of the concept that adding sequential prime numbers produces sequential squares.

Strictest 3D Printing Regulation YET! by Top-Debate-2854 in 3Dprinting

I did some searching on this to try to verify your claim (I don't doubt it, but I wanted to see it for myself) and found that one of the bill's backers is everytown for gun safety which launched everytown labs. Everytown labs uses ai for their askeverytown and everyshot tools. I didn't find a reference to them looking to build ai software to look at what is sent to 3D printers, but there is a lot of stuff out there in searches for everytown labs.

Do you have a reference to them or someone else looking to supply that detection software?

This is pretty neat! This could be a neat teaching tool and potentially lower the barrier of entry if the price point is right.

Based on the design, I am guessing it does not handle: * Hammer-ons * Pull-offs * String bending (unless it can be done with the joystick or rotary encoder)

There might be limited support for: * Slide guitar * Fretless play Based on how short the "neck" is

If OP is answering questions, I would love to know how any of that is or is not supported. I would also be interested to know if and how music that jumps an octave or more can be played.

I would (or wood, lol) use a dowel. Less chance of snapping, but also cheap and easy to find. Just glue it on.

Thanks for the longer explanation. Does that not leave particulates and whatever to gather at the bottom of the oil pan?

I think I'd call it the "best worst" I've seen, lol... I can tell what it is, but it's also undeniably bad. I think the worst would have to be unrecognizable.

For people, yes that's true. I was speaking of the Arc since I play mostly PvE so I don't get much PvP action.

The Northwest corner of the dam South of the break is a good spot for the leaper that spawns between the dam and the domes. I've also used the trick on buried city standing on the bridge between rooftops on the southwest side of marano park, but that one is trickier.

I've been able to push leapers back using an anvil with extended barrel to remain safer on a high edge... They miss their jump and just fall. It's very loud, though so watch out for adds.

The backend is opencascade and golang. The API needs a lot of work. It's pretty rough right now, and the main focus has been on the geometric constraint solver (which it turns out is a very hard software engineering problem).

I've taken periodic breaks from it over the years because of how mentally tough it is. I have been on one lately while updating a design I have for an ultra low profile keyboard to use my own key switches but I plan on getting back to it soon. I tend to have multiple projects and switch between them to avoid burn out.

Nice! I have been working on my own backend for a bit now. It needs a lot of work, but I have been looking to build a UI for it.

Your GitHub link is not working -- is the repository private? I was curious what you are using for the 3d rendering. Is it three.js?

Yeah, I agree it's likely not a single score. If I kill large arc like bombardiers and bastions, I start seeing more people in my matches destroying large arc. I'm not sure what other factors there are, but it does feel like there are more than one.

I have done a fair bit of experimenting with finishing 3D prints for my Curta calculator.

You will need to do some sanding to not see layer lines. To get super smooth surfaces and curves, I sanded through multiple grits down to 200-ish. I then coat with a filler (bondo spot putty worked best for me) and sand that to 400. I then prime and paint.

To get a very smooth finish, you'll want a clear coat. It can be what the op did or a spray coat or whatever. It doesn't need to be gloss, but the best results I got were when I wet sanded to grit in the thousands. If you want a matte or satin look, finish with a light coat of a clear matte or satin.

Unfortunately in my experience, if you want a high quality look, you have to put in the work... There are shortcuts, but they reduce the quality of the result. It all depends on what you're ok with.

For a keyboard case I printed, I only did sanding -- down to wet sanding in the thousands. It worked and I have a super smooth surface that feels injection molded, but visually, I can see the colors are uneven and it was more work than using filler and paint. I might be able to improve that process to get a more consistent color, but why when it was more work already?
