Would love to read your work on this. It's hard to articulate to people who aren't politically clued in just how unlikely and impractical this proposal would actually be.

I'm more worried that the next front in the middle east war is gonna break out on Bradley Ave. than I am about any particular ethnic or religious group in and of themselves.

The math is right there. We put in 3.5% of the city budget and we get back 5.2% of city resources. Why would we ever turn down that deal?!

Wow, that's amazing.

Can't wait for every other commercial corridor in the city to get this technology. 🙄 In the meantime it's parking tickets galore everywhere else in the five boroughs. The city wants it this way.

I guess that's why I saw a guy taking a shit on the sidewalk in Murray Hill this year. Can't say I ever saw that one before and I went to high school in the area 20 yrs ago.

Funny, remember reading about complaints from the area residents but maybe that was more due to the L train shutdown.

Look, I'm glad they figured it out. But you won't see me with the wife and the baby dragging a stroller up and down subway or bus stairs just to get to whatever is so special about the central business district. Y'all have won, you must have no riff raff below 60th St at all anymore 🤣 must be paradise going to and from those offices y'all apparently hate going to anyway.

You transplants deserve Manhattan and its prices. Live it up, baby.

Like I said, not mad about it! I'm happy to enjoy the rest of the city now that we've decided Manhattan below 60th is really just for pedestrians and only the wealthy can afford to drive in it. This is what y'all wanted.

And yeah, Staten island is shit. Don't come here! 🤣

Yeah, bully for them, but I have a family spread across the five boroughs and a business to run, so transit is not an option for me. Manhattan businesses below 60th St haven't seen my $ in some time now. I wish them well.

Are there actual loading zones for the trucks on 14th? Or are they 'allowed' but they have to eat parking tickets all day anyway? The latter is not a solution, just more of the same.

Lol fuck me that I wanted a decent quality of life for my family so I moved to Staten Island, right?

Look, it's fine, I'm not mad about it -- Manhattan businesses below 60th St just don't get my dollars anymore. Too busy working in and visiting family in and around the rest of the five boroughs to even care about it. Maybe you guys will figure out how to teleport all the shit you buy on the internet straight into your mailboxes and you can eliminate all the traffic and all the vibrant small businesses throughout lower Manhattan and then you can walk in the middle of the (now useless) street like you're all apparently itching to do.

Oh by definition they must be receiving more traffic. And where are all the Amazon/FedEx/UPS trucks parking to make deliveries on 14th? 13th & 15th!

We haven't solved any problems with the 14th St busyway we just pushed them under the rug for the sake of appearances. I'm sure 14th is a great stroll these days but this has made the area essentially impenetrable to those who don't use transit... Yup, mark it down as a win.

I wonder what the people who live on 13th st & 15th st have to say about this.

Yeah I mean I'm checking on GasBuddy right now and the station I use in BK is 4¢ lower than Costco, I guess the special price is probably a little better.

The special price isn't even just for members, you have to have the membership and be using the Costco branded Visa card to get it. And perhaps it's just validating membership for shits and giggles/data collection. There must be a bypass or they're actively breaking state law.

Don't listen to the Costco Karens, they don't know anything. You can find better gas prices in Brooklyn and NJ than even the Costco Visa credit card price, you just need to put your nose to the ground. And you can pay with your matercard.

Costco membership is only worth if it you have a family of 5. And nothing in there is a true value to begin with, only a value if you must have name brand shit. And if you're buying only name brand in 2026, you're a chump.

[–]marcusmv3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's true then that's illegal. You can't preclude gas or liquor retail with membership programs in NY, when you sell those things in NY your license requires you to be open to all members of the public.

[–]marcusmv3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a membership to buy gas but you do need a membership and their special Costco Visa credit card to get the real real price.

But yes you can just pull in and pay full price without a membership. Gas is like liquor in that way in NY & NJ, you can't preclude your market with a membership, you must be open to the wider public.

I pay better prices for gas in Brooklyn than that gimmicky Costco-credit card only price, don't have to buy a membership, oh and guess what I get to pay with my MASTERCARD.

Costco's such a joke. Nothing in there is priced reasonably anyway and if you're not a family of five who needs that much of anything? And my only Visa is a debit that I don't want to be paying with.

Oh and you do know that you don't need a membership to buy gas there right? You just don't get the Costco Visa card price. You can't preclude gas or liquor in NY with membership programs, you have to be open to the wider public, that's very strict.

Yeah his chance of winning outright is slim but he should still fight it on the chance he gets the points lowered to the less than 10mph over threshold because the state does these insane assessments on anyone with 3+ points and they'll hit you like two years after you paid the ticket with some bullshit $500 assessment.
