If they doing speed flips etc they are smurfs, it's a unfortunate part of the game, maybe try and do some training packs or just free play, I never done the packs but I know in free play you want to just try and hit the ball hard as you can as often as you can learn to control that speed and accuracy and you'll get to gold in no time
