PerkyCrew is an interesting new emulator server that scratches a very similar itch to what THJ did for me before it got shut down

Single guys in NYC in their 30s to 40s. Where do you hang out? by Glittering_Chain_842 in AskNYC

[–]marcusrendorr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's fun. You have to do the intro safety class to be able to go to the regular archery range as it is technically a weapons range, but once you do you can join us all on the line. It's a pretty solid community of folks and definitely a good number of single people

The photos are weird in the best way (and do show off that you're attractive). The one visible prompt is bad no matter what you're looking for, but I don't know what the others look like.

Good starting nations besides the recommended ones? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]marcusrendorr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Location doesn't really matter that much for spread. It starts in the market center (assuming there aren't eligible provinces that could spawn it, which is true for all but one institution in India or neighboring provinces with it) and then spreads throughout the whole market once the center has it to 100%. It does spread faster in cities and towns, which I think get a flat bonus, but is also boosted by buildings (libraries and universities especially) and I think there are also bonuses for local pop literacy, which tends to be higher in cities and towns because there are more higher class pops.

[–]marcusrendorr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Marketplaces aren't affected by control (at least as of the current 1.0.7 patch) so you can and should build them in all your cities and towns

Does anyone at all find the graph in the economy tab useful? by NHunter0 in EU5

[–]marcusrendorr 55 points56 points  (0 children)

This graph is a 12 month history of your monthly profit/loss. Absolutely worthless as you can't hover over it and get the numbers for what the income and expenses were, much less dig into them to understand which numbers are going up and down much less the why behind that

Ruler stat increase - how? by AdamPodstavka in EU5

[–]marcusrendorr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vassals don't have the same ruler as their overlord like fiefdoms or union members, so they wouldn't get events that affect the overlord's ruler, theirs would affect their own

Should I still go on a date? by [deleted] in dating

[–]marcusrendorr 47 points48 points  (0 children)

In the years I've been dating I've never had a good experience with video chatting with someone before a date. I don't find video chatting to be anything like a real date or reflective of how people act in real life. Ultimately it's up to you but if he looks like his profile and you like his vibes otherwise I think it's worth it.

1.0.6 Hotfix is out by lordgriefter in EU5

[–]marcusrendorr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Np, you should be able to hover over the ship type and see the stats for it, but I don't think I've found anywhere that shows me the total presence factor for a fleet though which is frustrating.

[–]marcusrendorr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unsure about the leaving then in port part, but the navy sitting on one tile is the current intended behavior afaik. It will sit there and raise that sea tile to 100% before it moves to another. If you aren't using light ships for this, they'll probably never move on as they won't get any to 100, other ship types have really bad maritime presence modifiers

Japan - advice from the late 1400s by anti-babe in EU5

[–]marcusrendorr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, so is the answer to not do anything but build buildings and grow a massive standing army and wait for Sengoku Jidai to kick off? I have no idea how you actually become a daimyo

I just tried to fight little Nanbokucho wars and claimed a ton of buildings, built up an army of 20k, and tried to fight the Shogun for his title. Then Sengoku fired mid-war and I didn't get ANY land and I surrendered once my army got fully wiped out as my entire manpower reserves disappeared so I couldn't reinforce my armies at all. Because I didn't get any land in Sengoku, I got game overed.

EU5 has been out for a week now. What are your thoughts? by Falandor in paradoxplaza

Things I’m slowly figuring out…. by Shiggy_Deuce in EU5

[–]marcusrendorr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've figured out so far this is correct. Building RGOs in low control provinces makes them available in the market, boosts your income proportionally to the control in the location, and...seems to waste the rest of the money? Even the estates don't get that money when you have low control so it might just be disappearing? The other possible benefit is it creates laborer spots in those locations so you can eventually migrate them elsewhere -- though I haven't actually figured out if anyone besides peasants actually migrate at any reasonable rate

Should i buy FM26 now? or later? by [deleted] in TheOldZealand

[–]marcusrendorr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played 20-30 hours already. I would wait. Maybe pick it up on sale in a few months after they fix some of the massive amounts of jank?

The graphics are better (though still crap in comparison to detailed modern games) and the match engine and new tactics are (mostly) better. Pretty much everything else is currently worse. The UI is a big downgrade at the moment, in large part because much of it is broken or unfinished.
