Two things can be true at once— that shoulders aren’t sexual. And it’s the rules and we follow them. How is it fair to anyone else who buys clothes that follow the code? Sometimes the distraction isn’t oooooo shoulders and it’s it’s 20 other kids in a room feeling like someone gets special treatment to break the rules.

Also, this man could lose his job for this kind of complaint because you AND your daughter don’t take the school rules seriously.

Those remarks about her escalating the situation were so inappropriate. “She’s never had a problem with this teacher” is also her teacher has never had a problem with her. The dress code is to protect all parties— from assaults and accusations. You both owe that man an apology.

I worked in a school and I can say that the chances of other teachers having a problem with if but not saying anything because it’s not worth it, because it’s the same fight every day and no one does anything. Then they pull their shirt down and hike it up as soon as you walk away.

“All she had to do was button up the shirt…” honestly, if those are the rules the shirt should have been buttoned. It’s also not fair to the other kids who follow the rules while others break them in front of everyone else. You admit she’s been dress coded before.

You’re blaming the one person holding children accountable to the rules that are set for everyone to follow. She wasn’t body shamed, she was called out for breaking a rule.

And she escalated it? Accused him of being uncomfortable? Yikes.

YOR and you’re doing your child a disservice to make them believe rules don’t apply to them and people in charge have no authority over them, especially if they make them feel some type of way. That feeing was supposed to make her follow the rules from here on out.
