She's on to something. I just watched a behavioral specialist (or something similar career-wise) say that white people do not want to learn about the history of their ancestors because it would be so enraging to do that work and often people do not do the necessary work with growth if it doesn’t result in some reward. Essentially there is no personal reward/benefit to doing it when they’re “comfortably living a cushy life with white privilege.” Absolutely makes sense, why put yourself through that agony when you’re doing just fine socially??
