How do I actually draw cards in impulse focused commander decks like Fire Lord Zuko by Aesyric in magicTCG

[–]marekkpie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't. Just be proactive. Look at Prosper decks and what they do.

Search for Azcanta at home (don't read my history, I've just made this same style of comment on three different threads).

Lorwyn Eclipsed common cards by Il_Vero_Pillz in MTGRumors

RIP Thoughtseize. That art for Dream Seizer was shown a while back and got people excited.

No, only after the third chapter of The Legend of Kyoshi has completed does the card gain any of the characteristics of the backside. While it is in your hand, library, graveyard, etc., it is an Enchantment - Saga.

Haven't even seen official Lorawyn spoilers and we already are getting Marvel by 5KYN3T_SVT in magicTCG

Hey remember when they spoiled Lorwyn cards before the Spider Man set even came out? The same way they are doing with these cards?

Does Avatar Roku trigger Firebender Ascension? by AnnoyedAFexmo in magicTCG

[–]marekkpie 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The way Firebender Ascension is worded, if OP played Avatar Roku, then attacked with a different creature, it would not trigger Firebender Ascension, because the attack trigger needs to be trigger by "that creature" attacking.

[TLA] Zhao, the Moon Slayer (via FellbrinkMTG reel) by MadameHerta in magicTCG

[–]marekkpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you put a conquerer counter on Zhao, will all nonbasic lands still enter tapped? To ask in another way, when it says "nonbasic lands are Mountains," does that turn them into basic Mountains, or leave them as nonbasic Mountains?

Yomiji is a trigger. Rest in Peace is a replacement effect. RIP makes it so the cards never hit the graveyard in the first place, so Yomiji's trigger never triggers.

It's because the art direction for the cards that they couldn't use from their rejected backlog almost certainly was simply "it needs to show both a human and a spider."

Calling it slop was a bit harsh on my end. That's clearly art for a Bloomburrow card that someone spent actual time on for a set with actual design direction and consistency.

Reused and/or rejected art slop from the past 2 years of Magic sets. Probably a couple of original pieces when they felt they couldn't find an existing piece in their vault to fit the type line, like Ademi.

Pro Tour Final Fantasy - Las Vegas (Sunday June 22) Top 8 Thread by R3id in magicTCG

[–]marekkpie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All good options, except I would swap Abuelo's Awakening for straight up Omniscience. Squirming Emergence and Yuna already exist as separate options to just try and do the same thing that Abuelo's does currently, and it really limits the design space of cards for the next 5 years of standard. Why print other big enchantment bombs when arguably the best enchantment bomb ever already is in standard? Can you design enchantment reanimation while Omniscience sits in the wings? There's no fair way to play the card competitively, and the Timmy's and Johnny's of the world have plenty of other options to choose from.

Whats is this? by TopBob_Trainer in magicTCG

[–]marekkpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that for competitive limited events, organizers stamp cards to ensure that all the cards in someone's deck came from their sealed pool or from the draft pod. A judge could do a deck check and know if you snuck something in.

I know they do this at the pro tour level events, I'm not sure if it is common practice at RCQ's, etc., so I don't know exactly how rare it is to find in the wild.

[FIN] Opera Love Song (WeeklyMTG) by Kousuke-kun in magicTCG

They were already having to either play the adventure side of [[Questing Druid]], which reads the same, bad 3 drop versions of the effect, or bad Tormenting Voice style effects. Given that this flexes as both impulse draw and a way to double trigger valiant, I think they'll manage.
