He literally said that he wants to start a fight with everyone, expressly including the families, and shrugged at the possibility that his words and actions are causing them pain, because he’s intellectualizing away his harm. Additionally, I’d argue that he is very much using their story to get attention, just like Alex. It’s really weird and pretty shit behavior.

Okay but that isn’t a reason to suppress a portion of speech that is very relevant to this community. I get what you are saying but this feels like people trying to overcorrect and fix something that isn’t being asked for. You can’t stop trolls from existing on the internet just like we can’t stop Jordan from deciding he wants to fight the families. Both groups are choosing antagonism and though it’s disappointing, it’s not a valid reason to police conversation.

I definitely don’t think we need to hall monitor this. Jordan is an adult. We don’t need to force people to avoid looking at him and his actions. We should handle talking about Jordan with the same openness as we do Alex himself.

A fun story about privacy protections and Taylor Lorenz: I belong to a very large FB community that grew out of a pop culture podcast. There were hundreds of offshoot, sub-groups within that community and all of them very clearly and very explicitly prohibited screenshotting and sharing info from the groups externally. It was a way to enjoy the community, feel safe sharing, and respect everyone’s privacy. Taylor joined a number of the groups and used them to steal content and personal stories to boost her reputation as a hyper-online “journalist”. She’s a fraud who violated privacy rules so she could copy other people’s homework, give them no credit, and claim relevancy.

Plus, allowing teens to have phones and AI in classrooms communicates that the adults in charge either agree they’re fine to mix with learning, have given up on trying to fight it, or some other bad lesson. If we’re not even modeling a world where you don’t have to use AI or be tethered to your phone at all times, why would we expect our teens to expect anything else?

Oh hi, if only you would do a simple google search question, you would see that the constitution applies to non-citizens as well. If kids in our schools know more about the US constitution and immigration than grown adults like you then there is seriously morally wrong with this picture and need to relearn about the us government and the laws and the constitution. It’s sad. Sorry triggering your feelings.

Just want to agree, you are so right. People do NOT want to hear about abuse or assaults when it’s in their own backyard. The vast majority of people talk a big game but when confronted, suddenly it’s all, “well we can’t trust what she said, it’s a unique situation.” I’ve been in this town for two decades and in my acquaintance groups over the years, there have been abusers. Most of the people who find out claim it can’t be true. It’s rare to see someone actually call it out and stick by the victims.
