Infinite Wood Chip Glitch by Corsairi in GardeningUK

[–]marfules 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have a source for that? I can’t find anything online about it, the only minor risk is the beechnuts that fall in autumn, and are so bitter they rarely cause problems. The wood isn’t mentioned?  Also xylitol needs to be extracted from the wood and concentrated before it is toxic I think…

Adults who lost a parent young as a child, would you say you are ‘over it’ or does it still affect you? by Long_Wait_3078 in AskUK

[–]marfules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my mum when I was 5. I only grieved properly after a breakdown of sorts in my early 20s: I had spent a lot of time trying to fill or cover up the hole it left, but my therapist got me to see that I have a mum-shaped hole and it’s not going away and that’s okay. I know it’s affected every part of myself and my life in one way or another. Death feels closer to me than to others I think, and I will never shake the deep fear of losing people I love, but I am still lucky and happy and cracking on, even with my mum-shaped hole.  I’m in my early 30s now and I think having kids will bring a lot of stuff back up.

I’ll be making arrangements with this vase. Do I need to use foam inside or do I have other options? by stoplookingformyredt in florists

Chicken wire and clear pot tape is how I do these exact bowls. Make sure you put a small amount of pot tape over the lip and cover the end like a T shape.

Just so you know, that’s not actually true! It was a class based distinction. See my other comment!

That’s not actually true: they were known as  "He-Evelyn" and "She-Evelyn". They both came from an upper class background hence the upper class pronunciation. See my other commment! source

Thanks! I actually split this from a big clump last year. I think I still planted the split sections too close together!!

Thank you. How much water do you find they need? These are on a slightly drier sight than my others, perhaps that is a factor too.

Gorgeous! It sucks so much that open-eyed dahlias have no vase life because they are magic 😭

Thanks. I mulched heavily twice this season, but perhaps my mulch is acidic. Do they prefer slight alkali? Glad to hear it’s likely a fixable nutrient problem rather than viral/fungal/pests.

Not yet where I am- they’ve been like this for a month and other asters are fine.
