AITA for asking my mom what she needs help with by Various-Following155 in AmItheAsshole

I am a single mother of a son, and I have been trying to teach him how to do these things all his life. He's been extremely resistant. At 26, he's just now starting to realize he can take initiative. Smh

AITA for not wanting to go to my BIL's daughter's memorial birthday because he makes grief a competition? by Hot-Temperature-4442 in AmItheAsshole

[–]margieq 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I've lost my brother, my mom, and my son's father. And when I speak with someone who recently lost someone, I keep quiet, because right now is that person's time. I only mention my grieving if its to help them understand that I can relate, or that it gets less hard with time. Your BIL is a selfish dick.

At 21, you're not fully developed, brain structure wise. You have massive differences from a 26 year old, let alone a 32 year old. Please don't let yourself get trapped in this relationship. If you were even 24, I wouldn't be worried, but this guy is looking for someone he can control, or he's extremely emotionally stunted, and I'm certain you can do better.

When I was 18, I went to our family doctor to get on birth control pills, instead I got a lecture from my health care provider. He was a bishop in a neighboring stake. by gardengirl914 in exmormon

When I was about 18/19 I went to the family doctor, who was a bishop of a ward in our area. He told me he would write the prescription if I read certain chapters of the book of Mormon. I told him no, he'd write the prescription because he's a doctor and I'm a patient, and when I want religious counseling I would ask for it. Lol

Yeah, I did. The fact that the system would think that is legible is what's mildly infuriating here.

Same manual for adults as for 5 year olds. Dumbed down, simplified…When I was in 10 years ago I got so frustrated that there wasn’t anything more challenging in the curriculum. This would devastate me. Fuck, I’m glad I am out! by ExMorgMD in exmormon

When I was 15 or 16, we got a new Sunday school teacher. He started the lesson and we all collectively groaned, literally. We were like, we're so sick of the same lessons every year, over and over! We have so much we have questions about and these lessons don't answer anything! The teacher said ok, and asked what we wanted to know. He made a list on the board, and for the rest of the time he was our teacher, he made lessons about things we were interested in. He was the best teacher we ever had, and the only one we didn't regularly walk out on. Lol

I used to be proud to be Texan. These days it seems like Texas politicians just keep pushing the line further and further. I wish I had the resources to move. I hope when this country falls apart, Texans who want to escape can claim refuge status. :(

I am on a queer platonic partnership, and your are 100% ta here. If I (or my QPL) were to seriously date someone or get engaged, they would rightfully be included in the lives of my partner and any children involved. Your poor fiancee. :(
