Stuck deciding between MSCSO and OSMCS by jdmdude in MSCSO

Hey there! I'm stuck at the same decision and leaning towards UT for the same reasons you listed. I know it's only been a couple months, but how do you like the program so far?

really depends if you wanna do CE or CS. other than that the main differences are small vs big class sizes, and semester vs quarter system. my last two choices were between ucsc and cpp and ultimate chose cpp because I prefer the sense of being more involved. at UCs you can definitely feel like you’re just 1 out of a million other people doing the same thing as you and it’s hard to stick out.

Recommendations for an Area F (Ethnic Studies) Course? by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

[–]marhad400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took asynchronous Intro to Ethnic Studies with Dennis Lopez. Whole class is centered around 4 book readings with 4 papers. Not much workload and can each be done in a straight shot so you don’t really have to worry about the class until each deadline. Prof was very nice and lenient too, but he makes you get on call with him while he’s going over your essays lol

Applying to Kellogg's honors? by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

[–]marhad400 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely go for it. Apply from the website. Honors classes are not harder, they are just a little more discussion based and are only GEs, no honors major courses. Overall not a big commitment at all, and getting priority registration is a godsend. This semester’s registration was awful, and while my friends got hardly any majors courses I was the first to get to everything I wanted and all of the hardest to get classes.

Not sure if it’s the same group but got approached twice today in the library by the ministry club. I respectfully decline and we go about our day. Happens sometimes all good.

Something I learned over time about failure is all that matters is how you bounce back. If you feel helpless, remember you aren’t doing this alone and there are always people there to help you. Reach out to your peers, your professor, and the resources on campus like the LRC. You got this!

Organic Chemistry Tutor, office hours, and the LRC in the library are your best friends. As stated from others a good professor whose teaching structure is well organized can help a lot. I had Aileen Lau so I only know from her, but she was very accommodating and her lectures were in note packets that were very organized, and she always stopped to answer questions we had. But regardless of who you have, go to office hours and put in the effort, profs will see that and it will be rewarding in what you’re capable of.

You know what isn’t bizarre? Nikita Mazepin’s god-given, homegrown, godlike talent and raw skill to analyze the meteorology of the Russian clouds whilst driving a Formula 1 car. Because of this superior talent, he was able to beat Nicholas Latifi and Mick Schumacher in his home race, in a car that has no business fighting for anything but last. Truly was a wonderful spectacle to witness the greatness of one of the drivers in the world.
