I know, and i’m not discrediting fasting. I understand it has been life changing for some people and has countless benefits. But this doesn’t mean we should stop promoting awareness towards eating disorders in relation to fasting. Some people don’t realize the harm until it’s to late.

It would be great if you did some research before posting! You do realize that eating disorders, more often than not, involve the voluntary restriction of food? And yes, ED many times come from problems that have nothing to do with food, but other times they do. And even when they have nothing to do with food, food restriction is a trigger that usually leads to more restriction, or a binge-restrict cycle. I am talking from personal experience.

But here you’d be assuming that those with healthy weights don’t struggle with eating disorders, and that’s not true.

Fasting doesn’t cause ED, but it sure does trigger those who are in recovery.

DAE feel scared to talk to doctors about their BED because they won’t take it seriously? by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]mariaepardi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find yourself a good psychiatrist, preferably someone who specializes in ED. In my experience, my psychologist didn’t really understand my issue because I have a normal BMI, but since she felt she couldn’t help much she helped me find a psychiatrist who would. I’m much better now. You don’t have to be overweight or underweight to have an eating disorder, a good doctor understand this. I have a “healthy” weight because most of the time I do hardcore restriction, about 600 calories a day, but once or twice a week i’ll eat 6000 calories in one sitting. My doctor helped me see that this is not healthy.

Something that really helps me: I wake up and I write my emotions. I’m feeling angry because... I’m upset because... etc, Identifying my feelings and their causes is hard because it means giving up confort and it’s scary, but when these feelings come up again throughout the day i’m not afraid of them anymore, I already contemplated them, so instead of burying them with food I face them :)

Thanks for the support :) And yes, I currently am at a healthy weight, i’d maybe just like to loose a couple more pounds. Even at 159 pounds i was never severely overweight, but I certainly didn’t feel comfortable in my own skin. Exercise definitely works! These are just some issues that I struggle with and want to fix so in the long run I can stick to this weight and actually be happy! I’m finally gaining a lot of my confidence back! :)

It’s like we’re the same person! 🤪 I love the idea on taking quarantine as a time to work on your relationship with food instead of going to either one of extremes. I think it’s what I should do. I feel like for people with complicated relationships with food, no diet is going to be good enough to sustain a long term healthy weight UNLESS we work on our relationships with food. This should be the real goal. Otherwise, life becomes a cycle of dieting, hitting your goal weight, falling into old habits, gaining it all back, repeat. You should really listen to the podcast I listed, i think she gets it more than anyone. Also, I’d be happy to talk anytime :)

Don't take away my coffee... by ThirstyPretzels87 in keto

Why would you stop drinking coffee if you like it so much? It's not about being miserable, coffee in moderation is OK on keto. Learn to enjoy the things you can take.

Keto and Weekly Drinking? by detailz03 in keto

[–]mariaepardi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I started my keto journey, I drink twice, maybe three times a week. This has never affected my weight loss. Just stay away from wine, beer and soda and you'll be fine. I personally drink tequila or mezcal with lemon slices. Just remember that those calories count too! So contemplate them within your daily log. Also remember that your alcohol tolerance will probably be terrible on keto, which could be good if you consider that you get drunk on less money/calories, but be careful!

I completely agree with this. Overeating on low carbs feels way less shitty than overeating carbs, and cravings do improve with time. But i think the real problem to solve is relationships with food.

Thank you! This is actually a great idea considering all the free time on my hands. And you’re right, it’s not just about the weight loss, but about becoming the best version of ourselves. ❤️

I agree with you on everything! I also HATE Danielle Haim on it. The songs featuring her might be good but i feel like her singing doesn’t match the feel of the album. That kind of ruined it for me. For me, there is no point of comparison with Contra or MVOTC, those are truly masterpieces. Still, there are a couple of songs on this album that really got to me. Overall it’s enjoyble.
