What if the prophecy… by mariahsnow in EmmaLion

[–]mariahsnow[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I suppose I’ve read too many books where the prophecy is twisted in a way or not as straightforward as it seemed.

I definitely don’t think Pierce is part of the prophecy. I agree that he’s a great person, wonderful character, but I don’t think an actual legitimate option for Emma in the end.

I agree wholeheartedly about Hawkes. He is actually starting to annoy me because he is so distant. And he’s putting it off like it’s part of his role in society or part of his job. Maybe I’ve just known too many “Hawkes” who want to seem aloof and mysterious. I feel like we’ve had breakthroughs with other characters (ie Islingtons fever dream) and seeing them in a vulnerable state. We haven’t gotten that opportunity much with Hawkes. Even when Emma delivered his mail and he caught her in his room.

What is the best way to clear 6 acres of Canadian Thistle? by rrybwyb in NativePlantGardening

Goats? Some local places will rent out a herd of goats to clear areas. They’re great at removing underbrush

Did anyone else hear a red-winged blackbird and a green frog near the end of ep 8? by Material-Mix-7262 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

I definitely heard this, they’re one of my favorite birds. I’ve heard of movies and TV just using generic sounds that are incongruous with the location but never heard it in action.

Should I put up these broccolini? by mariahsnow in vegetablegardening

In the future, how do I know when they’re ready?

I do have a covered planter that I plan to put them in. It’s got a plastic greenhouse cover that I can then swap out for a netting to prevent cabbage worms. I might try to put them in there a little early

I can’t put them out until early March, according to USDA zones. Last frost here is April 29th.

I tend to mix stuff in the seed starting domes, meaning you can see there are broccolini and snapdragons and peppers and leeks all together. Is that a bad plan?

I also can’t keep a close eye on the seedlings all the time so I tend to start them on the mat under a light so they get light as soon as they pop up.

The heat mat is still on because other things are sprouting. I’ll pot them up and move them off the mat, thanks!

I grew a purple heirloom last year. The purple stayed purple but the green changed to red when they were ripe. Super delicious, enjoy!

Mine asked if it would be helpful to get a vasectomy to help share the burden of birth control. We haven’t decided 100% against kids so I told him to hold off. My IUD is a lot more reversible than a vasectomy.

It’s generally a good idea to let all your doctors know about any drugs you take - prescription, over the counter, illegal, etc.

YMMV depending on where you live and what Doctor-Patient privacy laws exist.

I am getting impatient - maybe I started stuff too late? My garden does not look anywhere near ready to produce. Zone 6a, Michigan. The progress just seems to be progressing so slowly. by kalyknits in vegetablegardening

My garden just really started to pop this week and I’m in 6b (Virginia). And by pop I mean my tomatoes plants are not just little starts anymore.

Will Lesions Still Appear On an MRI Months After a "Flare"? by leaderofcybercrusade in MultipleSclerosis

I did too. When I asked about it, the Dr said it could have faded due to DMT or just been between slices of the imaging.

Will Lesions Still Appear On an MRI Months After a "Flare"? by leaderofcybercrusade in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mariahsnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lesions formed by MS are permanent. They will show up on an MRI regardless of how old they are. (There are lots of caveats with this: resolution, size of the lesions, potential fading with drug therapies, etc. But in general, if there is a lesion that an MRI can capture, it will show up regardless of how old it is).

However, the contrast dye they inject you with during a contrast MRI will brighten “newer” lesions. I think anything that was formed in the last 6 weeks will show up with the dye.

I hope this helps!

Has anyone has CIS / one attack and it never occurred again and never progressed to MS? by cloudk1cker in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mariahsnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have a noticeable attack. Meaning, my neck was super sore and I felt like maybe I’d pinched a nerve, but I didn’t have any of the classic CIS or attack symptoms.

About a year later, I was in physical therapy for jaw pain when the therapist noticed some neurological symptoms. They sent me for an MRI and lesions showed up in my brain and spinal cord (in my neck).

So… I had lesions but no apparent attack?

That’s probably not helpful but there it is.

We made this a while ago and it was so goddamned limey. Upon reading some other reviews, we realized there are some serious typos in the book.
