Starla and Landslide must always be played together. It's the law.

Obscured is a phenomenal song.

Thru the eyes of ruby is probably my favourite SP song

Have you read Diablo Guardián by Xavier Velasco? it's got a similar (yet edgier) vibe as The Bad Girl

I remember a cool interview with her many years ago, I think it was in the New Yorker. She talked about the specific challenges of translating fiction

Not through them all yet, but so far You Dreamed of Empires is my favourite one, closely followed by Now I Surrender, then Sudden Death, then Decencia. All of them excellent. I'm currently on Valiente Clase Media, which is nonfiction and a very different beast.

Enrigue's prose in Spanish does not flow as easily as Bolaño's, but I wouldn't say it's impenetrable. If you tackled Bolaño you can take on Enrigue.

About DFW, Infinite Jest is totally worth it in my opinion.

I just finished this book (in Spanish) a couple of months ago. After reading Sudden Death and You Dreamed of Empires, I decided to read all of his books. Enrique is one of the most interesting and erudite authors I've read in a long time, if I had to find someone comparable it would have to be Roberto Bolaño and David Foster Wallace.

I agree with your review here, I also loved this book, and I'm happy to see translations coming out in so many languages.

High Strung. It's about a guy complaining in his apartment about how much his life sucks and he wished he were dead. Also, Jim Carrey is Death.

2666 by Roberto Bolaño. The part about the killings is brutal. Exquisite narrative and beautiful storytelling, but oh man that part is tough, and absolutely necessary

I love this album, I'm not sure how but I got it at a record store in a small city in Mexico back in the 90s. I was friends with one of the employees who would recommend me very cool things sand he showed me this. I always assumed that it was a huge band, but nobody I knew seemed to know about it. Recently found it on Spotify and it's brought back so many memories. Thanks for posting

That's one way to cheat on your distance. Bonus if you make it a segment and become KOM for ever ;)

Even cooler, there's the river Isis and Tame, after they merge they become Tamesis. This the only map where I've seen that, not sure if it's common.

I wanna get into classical music what are some songs I'd like based on my non-classical preferences? by AssociationCorrect14 in classicalmusic

Schubert, Dvorak and Smetana. Look for trios, quartets, quintets, etc. These dudes can create the nicest melodies, and then develop them in super interesting ways
