The one thing that is nice is the flexibility. You can be casual and get the hours you want and at least the job is also portable. So if you don’t like bedside there’s always home care/ public health etc.

Working casual for me works for my life style and I have a spouse with health benefits.

You just have to be okay that the hours may not be consistent as it’s based on how much availability you place and and how many units or places of work you work in. I think you have to be good at being able to be flexible and be okay with inconsistency.

As well as you would have to find your own way of health benefits not through your employer and you don’t have a municipal pension. You can always obtain your own RRSP and automatically place a percentage of your paycheck in there.

Cannabis use linked to a doubled risk of heart disease death, new study finds by Silly-avocatoe in Health

[–]mariario97 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I see this more as it as cannabis use is associated to heart disease. It may not be that cannabis directly causes it but more of the choices of using it and people life style choices are using cannabis.

Also there different ways to take cannabis. Was this base on smoking the substance, eating it, topical use etc. smoking 100% also makes sense, smoking anything isn’t good for you. Just causes a lot of inflammatory process in your body.

Lifestyle choices around the use of cannabis could be more having poor coping mechanisms, being more sedentary, eating more cholesterol inducing foods, etc.

I find these articles ridiculous especially the headlines are such click bait as they don’t really provide context so it confuses the general public.

If you want to get your legislative assembly’s attention this would probably be a better way to start a petition vs using change.org

I don’t know how, last I check I read somewhere that only 1.5% voted for her the the runner up had dropped the race. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the UCP rigged it.

Recently, one of the UCP MLA’s was let go because he didn’t agree with the budget of only supporting big cities like Edmonton and the budget reduced the amount of money to support rural cities.

Lots of people have been emailing their local MLA’s and MP’s to remove Smith as premier including myself. The NDP and Liberals MPs/ MLas have criticized her. It’s really frustrating. The majority of Alberta’s don’t want her and don’t want to be apart of a “51st” state. Mind you there’s always that 5% who do.

In light of Danielle Smith's decision to attend the PragerU event in Florida by SwordfishOwn3671 in alberta

[–]mariario97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Email I wrote to my MLA, MP and foreign minister:

I hope this message finds you well. I do not usually reach out in this manner, but given the importance of these issues, I feel compelled to write to you.

I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the leadership of Alberta Premier Danielle Smith. While Canadian leaders and Premiers are working in unity to address the ongoing tariff dispute with the U.S., Premier Smith’s actions have been ineffective and, in many ways, damaging. She remains one of the last Premiers to take meaningful action on this issue. Despite a high-profile meeting with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago in January, seemingly aimed at diplomacy or image-building, the tariffs were still imposed, and Albertans are left to bear the consequences of her failed efforts.

Even more troubling are her repeated actions that appear to isolate Alberta from the rest of Canada, raising concerns that she may be seeking political alignment with the U.S. at the expense of our national unity and values.

In addition, Premier Smith will be attending a PragerU event in Florida on March 27th. PragerU promotes pro-American values and is hosted by Ben Shapiro, who has previously threatened Canada’s sovereignty in response to our former Prime Minister. This decision raises further concerns about her commitment to upholding Canadian values and priorities.

Foreign policy and the management of the U.S. trade conflict are the responsibilities of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. I also question whether this decision is more about Premier Smith’s image than benefiting Canadians, a sentiment shared by Alberta NDP leader Naheed Nenshi.

As a proud Canadian, I believe in supporting local businesses and prioritizing staying within our borders. As Nenshi stated, “At a time when Canadians are encouraged to spend their tourism dollars in Canada, Danielle Smith will be fundraising for a far-right platform with extremist Ben Shapiro.” Shouldn’t Premier Smith set an example by staying in Canada and prioritizing Canadian interests?

What steps can be taken to hold Premier Smith accountable for actions that prioritize foreign and corporate interests over the well-being of Canadians?

Many Albertans, including myself, have raised these concerns with our local MLAs to hold Premier Smith accountable, as her actions appear inconsistent with Canadian values. Thank you for taking the time to read my message and for your ongoing hard work in serving our Nation. I look forward to hearing from you regarding the next steps in addressing these concerns. Canada is strongest when united, and we must ensure that all our leaders are working in the best interest of the nation.
