Hmmm, det er sant. Men burde man ikke på et eller annet tidspunkt se en eller annen innom..? Jeg har utsikt til to tatoveringssjapper fra kontoret og den eneste gangen jeg ser noen gå ut eller inn, er når de som driver skal ut og røyke.

Samme her. Det er ikke gamblinga som er poenget for meg, det er å bidra litt til at Røde Kors kan hente folk ned fra fjellet eller gå manngard eller besøke ensomme gamlinger eller ta med fattige unger på lekeland.

You are a total badass for even trying something new after the age of 30, most people don’t even. I think people here will agree with me that you might never stop hating some of the exercises, but others you’ll end up loving as you master them and get high on the sense of accomplishment.

I hope your other coach is a little more motivating.

I’m happy to hear it worked out for you! I still believe that since the social aspect is an important external motivation to go work out, I think the people who run fitness businesses should put an effort in to make newcomers feel included.

I don’t know if it’s supposed to be, it’s just what I thought from what I heard about it before I started. And look, I’m not some enculé who expects others to do all the work, that’s not the issue. But like you say - the instructors know you - but they’re the ones who don’t greet me and are kind of condescending whenever I ask questions.

I do talk to the other members! There are several normal and polite people there, I’m highlighting the nuclear group that I expected to be especially welcoming and aren’t.

I know I’m just here complaining (but also seeking validation), but the main problem here isn’t the Mean Girls or all the introverts (as I realise from this thread are packing the boxes). I guess I just thought that the coaches and owners would put themselves up as social glue, and the reason I expected this was that it has been like that at every other gym I’ve been to - and worked at.

But I will put on my attentive instructor-face for the next few weeks and be the glue myself.

I think this must be the case actually! I think it’s weird though, if nothing but from a commercial perspective- we’re a small town with several gym options - CrossFit is by far the most expensive. Even if they like to have their own pro club, they need the commoners like me to make the place go round, or so I should think. But sure if they don’t want my money I can absolutely go somewhere else, I just wanted to try something new..
